Double D Challenge: Flowers

Hello friends!  Back with another Double D challenge.  In our previous challenge Diane called for fresh picked, but no flowers.  This time Darlene says it's all about FLOWERS.  That's the theme, and the pretty mood board is for inspiration if you'd like a spark:

I was tempted to color one of my poppy stamps, but decided instead to color the one remaining stamp from my Penny Black Ebullient set that I hadn't colored yet.  I let the orange of the poppies be my inspiration.

I colored with Tombow markers on hot press watercolor paper.  The flowers are markers only, but the subtle shading around them is watercolor.

The card was crafted with quite a few old-timey things from my stash -- SU Ticket Corner punch and Word Window punch, copper brads, and a die from the Spellbinders Floral Flourishes set.  It's quite old, but I still use it fairly often.  I don't think the card looks too dated but, you know, I'm pretty dated, myself, so I'm probably not a good judge.

The prize pictured below will go out to a random winner.  As always, we have creative winners, too.  Most importantly we just want you to have fun.

The team has flower cards galore on the Double D blog, so pop over and have a look.  I'm sure you've got some flowers you can play along with, too.

Have a good day!

Stamps:  Penny Black Ebullient, Altenew Wishing You sentiment  Paper:  Fabriano Extra White 140 lb hot press watercolor, SU So Saffron, Neenah white for card base, covered with Craft Consortium Wood Textures designer paper  Ink:  Palette Noir to stamp flowers, SU Chocolate Chip for sentiment  Coloring:  Tombow markers  Other:  Copper brads, old SU word window punch and corner notch punch, old Spellbinders Floral Flourishes die

Another BEAUTIFUL DT project ... thanks!

I adore this image displayed on the wood plank background. The colors and the subtle background behind the flowers are just perfect, and the swirl die off to the side is mysterious. You have used some things on the card than may be old, but still look great.

hmmm do I have flowers?? DO I EVER!!
Your artistry with those markers amazes me, Leslie - I've never tried the Tombow markers, but Zigs and I don't seem to work very well together. Maybe I should give them another try?
I'm standing by that 'everything old is new again' theory, my friend! Love your beautiful card!

Gorgeous. I just love flowers and these are so pretty. Love your layout and not dated at all. You know they say, "What goes around, comes around." Always great to use those unused items in our stash.

What a gorgeous, rugged, earthy, sweet, delicate scene, Leslie. Is it possible for all those words to work together? It must be, because that's what your artwork portrays to me! Of course, there is something about a Leslie Masterpiece that always brings joy and calm to my soul. This one is no exception. Beautiful, my friend!
hugs,

Your flowers are bright and cheery ... and they make me happy. :) I love the old time supplies you've used. I haven't used brads for so long, but now I want to pull them out. And I love how you've added a rustic background with your wood plank paper. Great card Leslie! xx

I have been away, so am a bit behind but had to come visiting to see what I missed. I always really like to see people use older things from their stash, it is never dated in my book. It is all about how you use it and I really love this one. Those pretty dainty flowers, the lovely corners, little flourish and wood background all add up to make this one very special and definitely not dated xx

Gorgeous poppies and perfect for this time of year!! Loved seeing the corner punch used and brads, gee I have so many of those and never think to use them, so you have inspired me to do so!! Another beautifully designed card!! My poppies are blooming now and they used to bloom the 3rd week of June, things sure are changing!!

Love your beautifully marker coloring of your sweet stamped flowers. I love also how your lightly watercolor painted background adds such a nice dimension to your pretty flowers. Mounting on weathered wood pp and tucking a die cut flourish and copper brads all make for a perfectly beautiful and stylish card, Leslie. TFS and sharing your detailed description, my friend. Love and Hugs...Nancy
