Yellow Roses

Yay!  I finally finished a card I stared prior to Wally's surgery!  Actually, I finished it last Wednesday, but I'm not always Johnny on the Spot about getting things photographed and written up.  Wally's doing much better now.  Moving around more and spending time outside with us.  One more week and his staples can come out if his incision is healed enough.  Trying to keep him from licking it is requiring a very watchful eye.  Oh, just in case you don't realize... Wally is a dog.  Guess I should mention that.
Anyway... the card...  I colored yellow roses for this one.  I suppose I should move on to late summer flowers and fall cards, but roses are still in bloom and we're still very much enjoying summer.  We'll have flowers blooming well into October.  I used Power Poppy's Everything's Even Rosier clear stamp set.  The sentiment is from their Nice Things to Say set.
Using Memento London Fog ink I stamped and masked one rose, then stamped three more times.  Colored with these Copic markers:
BG10, BG11, G0000, and the Colorless Blender were used in the edge shading around the flowers.  BV01 was used to deepen some of the shadows in the roses.
Just for a little something extra in the design, I punched an oval notch in the image panel to set the ribbon slide into.  I was bound and determined to use some ribbon on this card, but I didn't want to tie a bulky knot.  Even though there's designer paper, embossing, ribbon, a ribbon slide, and quite a bit of coloring, I hoped for this card to have a clean look to it.
I'll pop in soon with one of those fall cards I mentioned.  I've got a couple of things I've been waiting to use...  Hope to see you then.  Have a happy day!
Stamps:  Everything's Even Rosier, Nice Things to Say (both Power Poppy)  Paper:  X-Press It Blending Card (image), Neenah 110 lb white (quilted-embossed panel), Neenah Classic Crest Solar White (card base), Memory Box Key Lime cardstock, Bo Bunny Soft Shades Double Dot designer paper  Ink:  Memento London Fog, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics as pictured above  Accessories:  Ribbon, ribbon slide, We R Memory Keepers Quilted embossing folder, Scotch brand foam mounting tape

ACK!!! Oh my goodness! What a gorgeous masterpiece. Leslie you have WOWED me once again. Gosh, love everything, the quilted background, your gorgeous coloured roses (done to perfection as always), the colour combination, your layout, just everything! I love the way your punched the notch in your image to accommodate the ribbon slide - very cleaver. I just keep scrolling back up to 'stare' at this. Stunning! So glad to hear Wally is doing better, give him a hug for me. Looking forward to seeing your 'fall' cards. Enjoy your day.

Oh MY! It was worth every moment of waiting for you to photograph and blog, Miss Leslie! GORGEOUSNESS! Your coloring is melt-my-heart beautiful ------ AGAIN ------ and always, your designs move me in such a lovely manner. Yellow is friendship, so I feel especially loved reading your blog post and enjoying this masterpiece.

Very good news about Wally - and I cracked up when you said, "BTW guess I should explain, Wally is a dog" CRACKED me up!

Very good news about Wally, and it gives me a little hope in case we have to have Kilo's shoulder done. Kilo is very OCD, so it is difficult getting him not to do certain things. Hopefully, Wally will soon be back in the water with his beloved playmate, and be better than ever!

Wishing you a great week, my sweet friend.
hugs,
de

Good to hear each time that you write that Wally is improving, I imagine it does take a watchful eye as they like to lick at it as it is healing.
Your card is just Stunning, yellow flowers are not easy to color I know and these are just perfect in every way!! I am loving that embossed background and how clever of you to cut away the image like that to have the ribbon buckle fit just perfectly, that just tops it all off so nicely, Beautiful!!!

I just can't get over how beautiful your coloring is! The roses are so lush and beautiful. (I had no idea that knee surgery was an option for a dog!)

Well, WOW! Leslie, I am with everyone else - in awe of the beauty of this card! The roses are absolutely and completely out of this world gorgeous both in how you've arranged/masked them and your amazing coloring! WOW, yes, I know I am repeating myself - hehe! But this card deserves and evokes this response! :) Oh my, I agree with Donna above that it was well worth the wait for you to photograph this card. It's a beautiful piece of art (also mentioned above), and the recipient will surely cherish it! It's stunning, and I love the gorgeous yellow with the DP and the stunning quilted embossing folder! Wow, I love that and actually had to buy that (not sure whether it was you or someone else that enabled me to get that one - hehe!). And how beautiful is the satin ribbon with the slider. It's totally over-the-top gorgeousness! And yay for Wally! I am so glad he is making good progress and trust that he will be able to get those staples out - and I too giggled when you said, BTW, Wally is a dog! I know you all will be so glad to have him back to his old self. Oh, sweet friend, you do magic with stamps and digis, and I have loved your cards for longer than I can remember! Like you, we are still in full summer mode and shall be well into October perhaps. Big hugs and thanks for sharing this one. xoxo

I'm really not into fall flowers yet, so I was glad to see the beautiful yellow roses. I can never get enough of my roses. They end way too soon for me. I also love the quilted embossing folder. I think it adds just the right amount of texture to the card. Love it!
