CAS Christmas Bells

Hello!  It's a new week and after a rainy weekend I have a new card for my Christmas box.  It's not much of a showing for a whole weekend, perhaps, but I've had trouble staying focused with all there is to think about in our world right now.  It helped that I recently bought a die which is perfect for the CAS Christmas Card Challenge where they're asking us to feature bells.

Clean and simple is key in this challenge, so my card has a lot of white space and was very quick to make.  Love the pretty bells die.  I cut one each of red and white and layered slightly offset so it would stand out.  An embossed card base and stitched frame die add texture, and the sentiment adds color and fun.

When I embossed the card base I inserted the whole card in the folder so the embossing shows throughout.  In the photo below you can see the debossed inside front and the finished message area.  The back of the card shows the debossed pattern, too.    It's a simple step that adds a nice touch.

Have you been trying out the new Blogger?  We'll all be switched later whether we like it or not, so I've been working with it and figuring out a little more with each post.  There are certain things that seem wonky to me, but there may be a trick I haven't figured out yet.

One last note:  My heart has been rather heavy since my blogging friend, Sherri, went to live in a Memory Care home.  Her grandson created a website to sell Sherri's stamps and dies at a huge discount and there are currently 17 pages to leaf through.  It appears more things are added now and then.  She would love her stamps and dies to be used and loved by those of us in the stamping community.  Visit my dear friend's website here:  The Crafter's Estate

Take care, friends, and keep looking up.

Stamps:  Uptown (old) sentiment on front, SU sentiment with Power Poppy Merry Littles tree inside  Paper:  Neenah Classic Crest Super Smooth Solar White (both 80 and 110 lb), SU Real Red  Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black  Coloring:  Copics  Dies:  Amy Design Christmas Bells Corner, Memory Box Wrapped Stitch Frames  Other:  Darice Corner Scroll Background embossing folder, Scotch brand foam mounting tape to pop up bells die

We all dread the day we can no longer craft or at least I do. At 70 I definitely feel the slowing process and try to embrace it with dignity. I've been purging some here and there as I go along but some things I just can't seem to live without! Hope your week is a good one. Oh I almost forgot, I love your card...it is definitely one I would love to receive. Such clean lines and pops of color and just makes me smile!

Leslie, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend Sherri. I can tell how difficult this news is to you. That is so lovely of her Grandson to create a website to sell Sherri's goodies. I took a look and so much is already sold, that is great! As for your card, love a CAS card! No matter how simple your card is you always put so much detail! Love the complete design, and love how you did the dual layer of the bells and the inside of the card! Thanks for sharing today Leslie, always lovely to see your creations! Take care my friend, hugs.

Your card is beautiful, Leslie. So, so sorry to hear about your friend Sherri. How sweet of her grandson to take care of that for her.

What a pretty white on white background, Leslie. Sweet sentiment, too. I really like the shadowed die cuts! Leslie, this is one of the most festive cards I’ve seen! Beautiful. Hugs, de

Your cards are so wonderful and perfect for holiday giving. I love that bell die used that way and I also like the frame used on both of them. Too your friend could not keep some of her crafting things and use them while at the home. When my Mom went into the home she was allowed to keep her sewing machine as she loved to sew. In fact, she often did mending for some of the resident's clothing. And, she made a couple small quilts too. Your friend could share her supplies with the activity session and teach others to make pretty cards.

What a wonderful die, Leslie! I love how you've offset the white with the red! And that sentiment is so bright and fun! Embossing the whole card gives a lot more interest! Thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!

I'm so impressed that you are making Christmas cards! Your card may be clean and simple but it is cute - cute - cute!! I really like the bell die! I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Hopfully, she was able to take some craft suppies with her. When Joe's sister was in assisted living they had some nice craft times and some residents took over the classes when able. Take care!

Beautiful Leslie, That's such a fun sentiment and love the framing with the stitched edgea and your layered bells. Thanks for joining us at CAS.

I've switched to the new Blogger, it has some good and bad points. It's always a pity they don't keep the best and make things better :)

Sorry to hear about your friend, so good of her grandson to take time to find a new home for all her stash. We are all craft hoarders at heart :) I hope she gets to play a little at the assisted living/

Sweet card Leslie. LOVE the new bell die you bought ... looks amazing with the shadow of red in-behind. Very creative and clever design. LOVE the fun and whimsical large sentiment. A very happy Christmas card. What a great idean to dry emboss a whole card base. Love these ideas from you!

Sorry to hear your friend had to give up stamping. It does bring a lot of joy and she will miss that. Maybe your followers would be interested in sending her a card? I definitely would. xx

This is a fabulous Christmas card, full of beauty and joy and would be a pleasure to receive, great use of that bell die too! Yes, I feel so sad at what has happened to Sherri, she was on a design team at DRU with me and she so loved what she was doing and we miss her. I looked at her 'sale' and all I could think was that will be me someday and hope her dies/stamps will be as loved by someone as she loved them.

I can't even think about Christmas! :-) Still trying to get some motivation. It's raining this week in NE Oregon and there's snow down low on the mountains. The craft room should be a good place to be right now.

I just re-read your post. I'm so sorry about your friend.

The stacked corner piece in two colors is so pretty, as is the stitched frame. Your details are always so beautiful.

Your card is not only CAS Leslie...it's FABULOUS!! I love the offset bell die cut...the little pop of red showing through is just a perfect way to highlight those beautiful bells! Love the whimsical sentiment and all the color, and also the embossing on the card base...it really does make for a delightful card!! So very sorry to hear about your friend Sherri too, but am glad to hear that her stamping things are going to loving homes! I wouldn't mind sending her a card also if you'd be willing to share an address?? Thanks again for sharing your lovely, lovely card with us at CAS Christmas Leslie!! Hugs. :0)

Oh sorry to hear about your friend having to go to a home and leave behind her goodies, that is so sweet of her grandson to sell her things for her, better to see that then just thrown away or given away to someone who wouldn't appreciate it.
Your CAS looks great, love the embossed background peeking out, fun sentiment with all the little images and your bells are just beautiful off to the side, love the red peeking out around it!! I understand what you mean about all that is going on right now, it almost makes you wonder what could be next, this has been quite the year so far.
