Dahlia Display

Welcome to Friday!  It's a Dahlia kind of day, I think.  It sure felt good to watercolor some flowers this week.  I'm sharing Power Poppy's Dazzling Display digital stamp watercolored with Tombow markers on Fabriano Artistico 140 lb extra white paper.

Keeping it simple, I matted onto SU Lovely Lilac to match the dahlia, then glued flat to a white card.  One of the sequins is covering up a smudge on the sentiment.  My printer ink is great for watercoloring IF I lighten the image first.  I printed the flowers in no-line and the sentiment full strength.  I thought I was being careful, but apparently I dripped some water on the sentiment.  I wasn't able to correct all the smudges, but the sequin helped a little.

There's more to see here:

Broni Holcombe
Lisa Johansen

That wraps up the week here, friends.  I'll be back next week if cards happen.  Take good care of yourself!

This is gorgeous, Leslie!! Your coloring has amazed me once again. You'd think I'd get used to the beauty:) No one would ever know you were covering anything up, unless of course you told them. You take care, too.

WOW! As always, a stunning card! Isn't it wonderful how a little embelly can make those accidents happily disappear. How do you "print" in no line though? That's a term I haven't heard. I know how to do it with ink, but can you find a color light enough easily? Maybe I should investigate the use of my colors in Word. :-)

Your coloring skills are just exquisite! The delicate shading is wonderful too! Love the colors you have here and this is a cheery card. The perfect fix for a smudge too - done that a few times myself;) Have a wonderful weekend! Hugs

Dazzling Dahlia indeed! Absolutely beautiful card Leslie! I'm always in 'awe' of your water colouring, it looks so smooth and velvety. That bit of Lovely Lilac is the perfect accent of colour for your mat! And if you never mentioned the smudge one would never of known! The bit of shading around the florals is so dreamy! So happy to see your card today! Take care Leslie, hugs,

Even after you mentioned a smudge I can't see it! I see a beautifully colored dahlia that looks fabulous on this card. The depth and variations of color you achieve are amazing. Hope you feel a bit dazzled yourself after coloring this beauty!

Oh my the coloring is just wonderful, I wish my printer could handle thicker paper, but I can't justify getting rid of this printer for the few times I print off digi's.
Good cover up of the ink getting wet can't tell at all, love the beautiful color combo you came up with too, LOVE it!

Your watercolouring is always amazing, Leslie. You have really brought these beautiful flowers to life with your colouring and shading. I would love to have white watercolour paper. I use Arches and have not found their white version. I might have to switch, because the white really enhances the colours. xx

Leslie, your card is indeed stunning, love the contrast of the blue/purple dahlia and the yellow/orange of the smaller flowers, beautifully colored as always.
And I hear you about smudges, especially when your panel is done and looking fabulous, been there, done that, my friend.
Take care, stay healthy and safe.
XO
Maria.

What a stunning card! I just love your watercoloring. The Dahlia is so pretty. I have used a lot of sequins to cover things up! I hope you had a great Father's Day. The kids just left and we are exhausted. It's nice to have them come but nice to get back to the peace and quiet! Thanks for your lovely comments on my Floral Frame. Margaret and Dave loved it which made it all worthwhile!
