Hello and happy day to you! I've had a few busy mornings in my craft room and today I thought I'd share some of the fruits of my labor before the day grabs hold of me. A few challenges prompted me to sit down with one of my newest purchases -- Elizabeth Craft Fresh Fruit die set. One day I said "I need a citrus set", and so here we are.
I took creative liberties with the colors, using some ancient greens that don't come off the shelf very often -- mostly Stampin' Up Green Galore, with a little Glorious Green ink for shading. Anyone remember those? I even colored the flower centers green just because I could.
There are lots of choices with this die set from lemons to oranges to grapefruit. Even a strawberry. Not selling, just saying. I'm imagining today's card with a standard orange slice and a little Clementine.Covering the card base is Tiny Mosaic, an old Cuttlebug embossing folder from my stash. It looks rather kitchen-y don't you think?
In the next photo I hope you can see the Diamond Stickles glitter in the flower centers, and the gloss on the orange slices. The gloss is packing tape -- brush cardstock with ink, then cover with clear packing tape and cut with the inner die that creates the little sections. Cut again from non-glossy cardstock to create the lighter colored "frame" for the sections. Maybe that makes sense???
For embellishment I punched 1/8" circles from the glossy orange cardstock. The three-layer sentiment is from a not-used-until-now Cottage Cutz set.
One last thing -- the card measures 4 1/4" x 5". It's what's left over after cutting a mini-slimline; a cute little size, fun to work with, and it fits in a standard envelope for no-extra-postage mailing.
Sometimes it feels like it takes a lot of words to explain a card, but it's all about the sharing and taking the time to visit with you.
This particular card was totally inspired by the following challenges:
NBUS Challenge #76 -- My never before used schtuff is the Fresh Fruit die set and the sentiment from a Cottage Cutz set.
I'm so glad you could stop by. We'll do this again real soon, okay? Take care!

Wonderful card. Love the orange slices. I think I need to do something with that. Have a great day
I love how you found the sweetest citrus set and shared the process of using it with us. The background really caught my eye too, lovely kitchen-y texture! I'm so happy you've had fun creative time, and you've certainly inspired with this card! And yes, I do remember those colors of green. Bravo!
Wonderful, Leslie!! Such fabulous touches with everything. And yes, of course I remember Green Galore and Glorious Green. :-) I'm sure I still have some of the cardstock, but I gave all of my SU! inks to a friend who was just starting.
I can smell the citrusy goodness all the way in Florida! Your “need” for a citrus set lead to the perfect set for Leslie style inking and arranging! So crisp and fresh! The layers are lovely, Leslie. Thanks for sharing this beauty! Huggers, de
A beautiful and refreshing card for summer. You hit the jackpot with this die set, all the citrus you could possibly need! A fabulous mix of new and old!!
Leslie, I have had a hard time resisting this set myself! I'm just as happy seeing it in your very capable, talented hands! I do love it when you 'have your way' with colors... this green is totally new to me! I can see 'kitchen tiles' in your embossing, too!

I love the citrus-sy colors on this sweet citrus card. So refreshing and summery. The mosaic background is new to me... I love it!
I am glad you brought that green down from the shelf. I love it, so very vibrant and that embossing folder is great too. I don't think I have seen it before. I am glad you have been getting some craft room time xx
Those are great greens, and the entire card is fabulous. Il ove the care you take with each element.
What a great card for the summer season. Your card is so welcoming and I love your orange slices. I especially like your embossing folder. Reminds me of a sheet of dimensionals. And of course you used one of our favorite colors - Gorgeous Green. The girls always wanted to use that color.
Your layers are marvelous and this is one gorgeous card!
The orange looks delicious, very cool using the tape with it too. Your shading on everything is terrific, so nice the older inks still work nicely! Like your scalloped circle to put it on and the embossed background. Sweet summer time card!
