Meadowlark and Sunflower

Hello again!  One last Inkadinkado card this week and now I can happily say I have no more Inkadinkado in my not-yet-used basket.  They're all tucked away in their drawers and will come out to play again another day.

This time I stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa and colored with Copics.  The Western Meadowlark is Oregon's state bird.  They're even more colorful than my rendition, but I toned down the colors so my yellows wouldn't clash.

The background (from my bag o' backgrounds) was made by rubbing yellow ink onto the inside of an embossing folder and then embossing a panel of white cardstock.  You're familiar with the technique, I'm sure.  I've had a lot of fails but this turned out rather pretty... and then I covered up most of it.

Three challenges today:

The Sisterhood of Crafters -- Sunflowers.  I'm always pleased when I can use a never been inked stamp to play along in a challenge that catches my eye.  This is one of the smaller varieties of sunflower, but a sunflower nonetheless.
Four Seasons Challenge -- Anything goes summer.  Next month they'll switch to fall, but we're still enjoying summer while we can.
NBUS Challenge #41 -- Never before used schtuff.  You can find me there quite often (ahem).

Thank you for sharing a portion of your day with me!  Enjoy the weekend!

Such a beautiful card, Leslie. Wonderful elements. And I'm glad you had success with that technique with your embossing folder. I know that you have said that you've struggled with it, so I'm glad you were happy with this result.

OH, I've actually seen a meadowlark! But never heard one as vocal as your darling one today - he's singing for all to hear!!
Love the EF treatment, and the lovely die cut border, AND the gorgeous sunflower! You've created so much beauty yourself this week.
Leslie - get him back out for that no-fail technique of Dawn's! what do you think?

Dear Leslie: WOW!!! What a gorgeous image of this sweet and beautiful bird, I went and looked for this bird to hear him sing and his song is amazing.
I love how you colored him, and the sunflower is just the perfect little perch for this unique bird.
Love the embossing too, beautifully done.

Stay healthy and safe.

Another perfect stamp from Inkadinkado! Your bird is so beautiful. I bet it wonderful to watch. We are enjoying our hummingbirds going crazy at the feeders but it tells me they are starting their migration and I know what's coming! Your embossing technique turned out so well. Mine doesn't always work out. The sentiment reminds me of Sarah in the shower when she was little. Have a great weekend!

What a fabulous image and great coloring. Oh I need to use so many images that are in my stash. I might need to add that to my weekly list of crafty goals to use an image that has not been inked for a card. I may do that once I finish coloring the stack of already stamped images. LOL Goals! :)

Super gorgeous card!

What a beautiful bird, Leslie! I'd love to see one IRL. Your monoprint background is so pretty! I've never gotten good results with that technique. Yours is gorgeous and I love the die cut lattice with it!

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUSNESS! Loving the background - half lattice die cut, and half inked EF. I like that you used the yellow - I wouldn't have thought of using the pale color. I especially like the combination of the textures in the background. Of course your meadowlark is amazing. The out-of-the-box flower is a perfect interruption of the square lines, and the birdie's feet so sweetly perched atop. Thank you for your newsy email! hugs, de

I love how you have put this one together with the frame the die cut, the embossing and the twine, they all come together so well and make a delightful card. Well done for getting to the bottom of those unused Inkadinkadoo stamps too xx

What a lovely image and sentiment! The bird looks amazing and the soft wash of color behind him is so pretty. The embossed background is my favorite. I love how it sets the main image off elegantly!
