Hi friends! Presenting another Double D Challenge. Today Darlene is challenging us to use the colors orange and black. Don't think for a minute it has to be Halloween... just look at the mood board:
However, I love making Halloween cards and, inspired by the silhouette and sunset scene on the board, I had all kinds of fun making a spooky Halloween scene with new and older Memory Box dies. I just happened to have the orange and yellow watercolor-smooshed background in my bag o' backgrounds.
I cut a fir tree oval in black and layered over yellow to make it stand out against the Creepy Cabin silhouette. The top layer of black was swiped with a white pigment ink pad to make it stand out against the black card base. It looks spookier that way, too.
The ghosts are sequins. The base of the sentiment was cut from the edge of the same watercolor background as that in the scene.
We'll have creative winners plus a random winner of this prize:
I hope you can join us at Double D in our Orange and Black challenge. It's such fun to see all your ideas just as the team loves sharing their ideas with you. Take care!
Other: Ghost sequins, white ink, smooshed watercolor background

What a fun card! I love the die cut you used as well as those little ghost sequins! The swiping of the white pigment ink pad is genius!
Just a very cute Halloween card my friend!
What a fabulous spooky Halloween card, Leslie and it is made all the more special by the white ink swipes - an idea I will be stealing if you don't mind lol?

Perfect background for that creepy haunted cabin lol LOVE the white ink swipes--will have to remember that for next year--such a cool and effective technique! This is fantastic!
Fabulous spooky scene and how creative to swipe that white pad, certainly does add a spookiness to the card, and those sequin ghosts are the perfect addition!!
Super spooky Halloween scene, Leslie. Wow, I seriously love the white ink swiped around the frame. What a great affect it gives to the overall feel of the card. The bright background really makes the silhouette images pop.
I love the way you put together so many elements to make such an awesome card. The white swiping on the black is a very cool effect, and the yellow trees behind the black ones works wonderfully.
WOW! I've said it before and I'll say it again ... you inspire me! LOVE the scene you've created! That background is perfect but I'm in awe of how you did the highlight/shading on the black panel ... you're so clever! Thanks ... this is AWESOME!!
Very cool looking. Great dies and love how you do the white on black. It does make the black pop.
This is fa-boo-lous Leslie! You made each element stand out perfectly by the way you shadowed the back of the trees with yellow and the white inked up edges. There is so much inspiration to draw from your fun card!
cute. You're getting right in to Halloween... I can see that house as an Xmas card as well with those pine trees in the foreground. Maybe a blue sky or a nice sunset. Maybe add some yellow in the window. Have a great day

You do Halloween cards better than anyone, Leslie:-) I LOVE how you used your smooshed background for the orange sky and all the detailed diecut black and Halloween images for your cards. Loved your brushed white paint over your black framing too. Thank you for sharing, my friend. Love and Hugs...Nancy
What a great orange background, Leslie! A beautiful glow for this scary house! Cute ghost!
Oh how cool is that, aren't you just clever using that oval with the trees along with your house for a spooky scene, I love it and I also love how you added the white pigment ink to the background gives it that foggy look, those sequin ghosts are a great way to top it off!
Your smooshed background was perfect choice!
A beautiful Halloween card! I love the way you swiped the white over black to make it stand out!
This card makes me want to create a Halloween card. I love the white pigment ink swipe and the spooky house. Great scene altogether and from things that you had.
Great Halloween card, the swiping of white around the outer edge is awesome.
FaBOOlous card Leslie!! Absolutely love how you used the white against the edges to frame your card...will definitely have to remember that one! And great idea to use the oval die with the fir trees in black...I'm going to have to go look through all my Christmas dies now to see what'll look good and spooky in black! Thanks for so much wonderful inspiration on the fun and spooky card Leslie...loved it!! Hugs. :0)
That effect with the white pigment ink is really good (must try and remember it), it adds interest and is the perfect finishing touch to this wonderful halloween card. Thanks too for your kind comments the other day. We all have trouble juggling our time don't we? xx

Oh my goodness, what a FABULOUS card, Leslie!! The way you shadowed the trees with yellow, the white sponging around the outside to draw the eye to the focal, all the silhouetting. The whole thing is simply BRILLIANT. I love it!
That is lovely - and clever with gorgeous colours and fabulous design, love it ♥
What a great die cut scene with the spooky bright sky behind it!
I love whatever you pull out of your bag of already made stuff! The backgrounds set off this scary scene so well! I really like the way you layered the pines. Those spooky ghosts are sequins? This could not be more fun for Halloween, Leslie!
