Double D Challenge: Orange and Black

Hi friends!  Presenting another Double D Challenge.  Today Darlene is challenging us to use the colors orange and black.  Don't think for a minute it has to be Halloween... just look at the mood board:

However, I love making Halloween cards and, inspired by the silhouette and sunset scene on the board, I had all kinds of fun making a spooky Halloween scene with new and older Memory Box dies.  I just happened to have the orange and yellow watercolor-smooshed background in my bag o' backgrounds.

I cut a fir tree oval in black and layered over yellow to make it stand out against the Creepy Cabin silhouette.  The top layer of black was swiped with a white pigment ink pad to make it stand out against the black card base.  It looks spookier that way, too.

The ghosts are sequins.  The base of the sentiment was cut from the edge of the same watercolor background as that in the scene.

We'll have creative winners plus a random winner of this prize:

I hope you can join us at Double D in our Orange and Black challenge.  It's such fun to see all your ideas just as the team loves sharing their ideas with you.  Take care!

Memory Box Dies:  Creepy Cabin, Boo Posh Script, Tall Fir Collage, Cross Stitched Frame Borders
Other:  Ghost sequins, white ink, smooshed watercolor background

Super spooky Halloween scene, Leslie. Wow, I seriously love the white ink swiped around the frame. What a great affect it gives to the overall feel of the card. The bright background really makes the silhouette images pop.

I love the way you put together so many elements to make such an awesome card. The white swiping on the black is a very cool effect, and the yellow trees behind the black ones works wonderfully.

This is fa-boo-lous Leslie! You made each element stand out perfectly by the way you shadowed the back of the trees with yellow and the white inked up edges. There is so much inspiration to draw from your fun card!

cute. You're getting right in to Halloween... I can see that house as an Xmas card as well with those pine trees in the foreground. Maybe a blue sky or a nice sunset. Maybe add some yellow in the window. Have a great day

You do Halloween cards better than anyone, Leslie:-) I LOVE how you used your smooshed background for the orange sky and all the detailed diecut black and Halloween images for your cards. Loved your brushed white paint over your black framing too. Thank you for sharing, my friend. Love and Hugs...Nancy

Oh how cool is that, aren't you just clever using that oval with the trees along with your house for a spooky scene, I love it and I also love how you added the white pigment ink to the background gives it that foggy look, those sequin ghosts are a great way to top it off!
