Amaryllis Christmas

Hello there!  All done with Halloween for another year.  Glad I got to use all those stamps, but also glad to be moving along to some different cards now.  We have Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up, so I guess you know what I'll be working on.

This year I'm going to try to make it all the way through Kathy Racoosin's 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  It started November 1.  The idea is to color every day, even if only for 10 minutes.    Everything eventually gets made into a card.  If you're a coloring fanatic like me, it's a fun challenge.  On the first day I actually made a whole card.  It's not my favorite card ever, but it does kick off my Coloring Challenge efforts, so here it is -- Power Poppy's Amaryllis Bliss, watercolored, with a stenciled background.

The Amaryllis blooms lack the detail I would prefer, and the background is too busy.  The gold edging on the blooms is too yellow.  I was trying out an idea and I'm not crazy about it.  That's okay.  Live and learn.  Poor Amaryllis... I've used this stamp twice and not yet made a card I was truly happy with.  I'll really have to try again, sigh.

Christmas card total:  27

I'm looking forward to this challenge in hopes it will make me get some of these not-yet-used stamps and digis colored.  I was on a roll with the Halloween cards... let's see where it goes from here.  Have a beautiful day!

This is so gorgeous and I love the gold sentiment on it. Beautiful colors and it brought back memories of when I used to have an Amaryllis every Christmas too.

Isn't that lovely with all the pretty berries of movement in the background, and the golden ghost around your petals? Two wonderful techniques bringing out happiness and the festivities of the season. Leslie, it's a wonderful creation. I'll be looking forward to your 30 days next year. As you know, I am one of your most ardent coloring fans! hugs, de

Beautiful coloring....how many times have I said that about your work? :-)
This reminds me that I want to buy an amaryllis bulb to grow this season; I started too late last year and the flower wasn't that pretty. I think you've seen that I've been commenting on your IG posts. I feel a little guilty that I've not been visiting the blog the way I used to do. Really beautiful work, Leslie!

Love the amaryllis card. The colors are beautiful. Love the background. Like the dots on the flowers, look distressed with a wonderful effect. If you do it again and like it more it will be beyond fabulous.

Your Amaryllis are beautiful, love the colour, and I love the gold around the edges. There is nothing wrong with this card, you know we are our own worst critics. The background is very pretty, nice tones which compliment your flowers. Good for you for joining in the challenge. Someday I will have to give this a go. Lovely seeing your post today Leslie. I hope your arm is coming along well.

Merry and Bright, just perfect for the holiday season. I love how festive it is...and good for you taking on such a challenge, you will have to keep us posted on how it is coming along! I now think I need to go and purchase an Amaryllis!! I will try to get some of my pictures on my blog that were on FB so you can see them, doing two shows in one week has slowed me down, but I will get back to creating soon..I hope!!

Oh I actually liked your gold around the flower, it does help with the background so it didn't blend into it, I thought it was a good touch to it, and pretty coloring of the flowers, I have never done her challenge all the way through

I have never gotten past a week in the 30 day challenge. I'd still like to give it a try! I think your amaryllis is beautifully colored and I love the golden border and sentiment. I think the stencil is beautifully done - I notice gorgeous shading and details that add an elegant look!

Leslie, we are our worst critics and it's so clear here with this beautifully colored flowers.
I love the golden edge on them and the background is a perfect compliment.
The panel behind the flowers is a fabulous detail.
I'm always a bit apprehensive with large images but you always do a fantastic job coloring them.
Sending hugs, my friend.
Maria.
