Twofer Card Challenge #22: Holiday Greenery

Welcome to another Twofer Card Challenge!  Our prompt this month is "Holiday Greenery" -- BUT -- there's a twist this time!

First, to clarify the prompt:

Holiday is any holiday.
Greenery is defined as: foliage, growing plants, vegetation.  It does not have to be green.

A greenery element is required, and it must be the same greenery element on each of your two different designs.

Now, for the twist:

For this month only, the "two different occasions" rule is optional!  You can make two different designs using the same greenery element for two different occasions; OR you can make two different designs using the same greenery element for the same occasion.  It's up to you!

All other rules of the challenge apply. If you have any questions about specifics of the challenge, please take a few minutes to review the updated Definitions/Examples tab on the Twofer Blog, so you'll be eligible to win. We appreciate your enthusiasm and support and want to see you stretch your stamps, stencils, dies, and design skills!

Also, a reminder that there will be no Twofer Card Challenge in December.

Ultimately I went with two different occasions, using the same evergreen branch in two different designs.

I made my greenery white for the Christmas card.  The kraft with black pattern is some cool DCWV paper called Foiled Elegance.  I added a black oval and red die cut sentiment.

The dies for this card are as follows:  Tutti Designs Arched Fir Branch, Memory Box Warm Christmas Wishes, Memory Box Oval Master Frame (used just the inner oval)

For the birthday card I cut that same Arched Fir Branch in green, but then snipped off the snowflakes and added the bird and birthday sentiment.   All is arranged on a wood grain card base.  Additional dies:  Poppystamps Happy Birthday Melody, Memory Box Finnegan Fronds

So..... just remember... your two cards need to use the same greenery element on each, and they need to be two distinctly different designs, BUT this month only they can be the same occasion.  Consider it a little gift from Darnell.

Christmas card total:  28

For fun and inspiration, check out the samples on the Twofer Blog.  We have an awesome guest designer this month, so hop over to meet and greet!  Enjoy!

Hi there Leslie: Well, this is a fun twist for this Twofer Challenge, and you did a fabulous job with your cards.
Both are so beautiful and totally different, the way you used the Finnegan Fronds die on both cards in different colors is a very ingenious idea.
Love that little Chickadee on your Birthday card and the pop of red on your Christmas card.
I'll see you soon at The Twofer Challenge gallery.
Hugs.
Maria.

Wow, Leslie, I can't get over how clever that birthday card is using the evergreen branch without the snowflakes! It's so pretty with the musical happy birthday scale! And your evergreen branch in snowy white pops against that foiled kraft and black oval! I love the white-shadow on your bright red Christmas sediment! Hugs, Darnell

I can't stop looking at these two amazing cards, Leslie. I flit from one to the other and am trying to decide which one I like more...it's a tie; I love them both. That Christmas card is so cool. The colors you've chosen are so different than the traditional reds and greens, and I like that! Your birthday card is stunning, too. That bird has me just smiling. What a perfect little addition tucked inside that greenery! The musical staff is a great fit, too. Love these! Sending hugs. xoxo Bev

You are always so creative how you use something two different ways, neat color choices for your Christmas card but I really love how you used it in the birthday card with that cute bird and sentiment die, just like they were all made for each other!

Very different looking and different occasions using your die cut greens, Leslie. Love how they both turned out. I like that you can use the same occasion for the Twofer Challenge this month using the same greenery. TFS my friend. Hugs..Nancy

Your greenery works so well with each card. I love the combination of the greenery with the snowflakes! But combining it with a bird for a birthday card is brilliant! Great cards, so very pretty and creative.

Leslie, both of these are beautiful! You are very creative, love how you used the greenery and just by removing the snowflakes it's a whole different look! I really like that you went with kraft, black and red for the Christmas card, so different but love it, and of course you know I love birds, so that one is special. I can almost here the chickadee singing! I always look forward to seeing the Twofer challenge come around as I'm always excited to see what you do. Sorry for the late post, just getting caught up. (wasn't feeling well this weekend it was a rough go on the new meds :( ). And congrats on 28 Christmas cards, that's awesome!

The warm kraft with that elegant pattern makes for a fabulous background for your snowflake adorned pine branch, Lesley ... love that bright scripty sentiment where the white shadow really makes the letters pop! Brilliant idea to trim off the snowflakes to create a pine perch for that stylish, elegant bird ... seems he's warbling those happy birthday notes beautifully! Hugs, Anita :)
