Power Poppy Preview, Day 3: Strong and Beautiful

Hello!  Back for Day 3 of the Power Poppy Enchanted Garden clear stamp previews.  Today we're showing Strong and Beautiful (link will be live on July 1).

Perhaps you'll remember these flowers as a previously released digital stamp called Bowl of Beauty.  It was too pretty not to release in a clear stamp set!  Marcella tweaked it ever so slightly and gave it some very useful sentiments and, voila, a clear set is born.

I spent some extra time with this one because I used Prismacolor pencils and I'm very slow with them.  I did not use Gamsol for blending.  Just pencils.  I blended over and over again until the pencil lines virtually disappeared.  I'm probably too dogged about that.  After all, they're pencils; they're supposed to look different.

Before I picked up a pencil, however, I created the background with Copic markers.  Colored random patches of  green, blue, and pink, then dropped colorless blender fluid onto it using a very skinny eyedropper (pipette from my medical lab days).  Final background touch was to add all the little dots that float up and away.  The sentiment was added last and colored with pencils.

You'll find more info from Marcella and a link to all the dreamy team samples on the Power Poppy Blog.  I'll meet you over there 'cause I want to see them, too.  Have a beautiful day!

Gasp! Leslie this 'bowl of beauty' is absolutely stunning! Your pencil colouring is out of this world, I love the effect you got without gamsol - need to try this! Your background is so soft and dreamy, love the markings the colourless blender makes, and your floating little dots finish this off perfectly! WOW, I'm still in awe! I'm so glad I'm off today to be able to see this beauty early this morning. Wishing you a beautiful day as well. Lovely day here so far, high of 104F this afternoon- yikes!

I could hardly WAIT to see your post today, your cards with the release have been outstanding! This one is the most beautiful card I've ever seen, Leslie. All your blending with the pencils looks amazing. Your background done with Copics complements the details of the stamped image perfectly. I just love how you combine colors and add those tiny dots.

What a beautiful card! The stamp is so pretty and your coloring is out of this world!! I can't believe you used pencils as your media. The blending is so amazing. The tiny dots are a great touch as well! Have a great weekend!

This is awesome..with the wonderful background, those little dots and gorgeous coloring with pencils. In fact, if you had not told me they were pencil work I would have thought it was done with water colors. I just love this and I only wish I could do half as great a job on coloring as you do.

I love to see you create with florals! And I was delighted to hear you didn't use mineral spirits - that's how I was taught. You just keep blending until it's as smooth as glass (filling in the tooth of the paper). Your skill as a colorist really comes across when you creating with florals and I attribute your gardening knowledge to your choice of color palettes. Beautifully designed, Leslie! I love it!

Oh my! I can't believe you did this with pencils! I am so in awe of your coloring. After following you awhile, I finally did buy some gamsol, but have yet to learn how to use it. And is the blending medium you used the same as the refills for the blending pens? Leslie, this is just breath taking. Thanks for starting my day off so beautifully. Hugs

Absolutely gorgeous. The backround is the perfect setting for the gorgeous flower. You got so much impact from your colored pencils I thought they were markers and pencils. Frame worthy again.

Hello Leslie: I apologize for this late comment about your gorgeous cards created with the Power Poppy soon to be released stamps and digis.
All of these cards are absolute masterpieces, with gorgeous, perfect coloring and design.
Looking at them makes it so hard to stick to my resolution of not getting anything new and just use what I have, which is plenty, but these images are so very difficult to resist.
I love the one with the little mushrooms, the one with the white embossed flowers is stunning and this last one leaves me breathless, your pencil coloring is simply amazing.
Thank you for the inspiration, my friend.
Sending Hugs.
Maria.

You are undeniably the queen of flowers! Nobody in the entire world can color them as beautifully as you do! When you're finished coloring them, I swear I can almost smell them! And it makes no difference which medium you use either, your coloring talents are fabulous whatever you choose! Awesome card,Leslie!!

Gorgeous!!! Oh my is this ever fabulous. I am not surprised this is pencils but am surprised at how much you said you had to keep coloring away the lines... that is totally my thoughts when I use them. Now you inspired me to pull them out again. The water droplet background is genius and perfect accent. Gorgeous my friend!

Beautiful alcohol ink background with your Copics and Blender, Leslie. Your colored pencil coloring is amazing. It must have taken hours and hand cramping to finish your beauty. Loved the added dots too. TFS my friend. Hugs..

WOWZA!!! I could not stop looking at your beauitful card. Your coloring skills are off the chart and I agree with our friend Sherri - so real you think you can smell their sweetness!!!! Your background is just awesome too! One of the reasons I stay away from colored pencils is the shading takes too long - but patience paid off big time for you!!! Stunning card!
