Hummingbird Paradise

How about some color today and lots of it?  I went right to town as soon as Marcella at Power Poppy made this Hummingbird Paradise digital stamp available.  It's a dream!  Trust me, you don't have to color the whole thing, but I couldn't resist.  I used Prismacolor pencils on the flowers and bird, Copics on the background.  To finish, I dotted here and there with white acrylic paint.

What kind of hummingbird is this?  I have no idea.  I'm hummingbird challenged so I probably mixed a few different types together, but I like blues and greens and it fit right in with the flowers.  I chose pencils for the detail and the ease with which you can blend one color into the next, hoping for an iridescent quality.  I still need a lot of practice, but I'm working on it.

In the next photo you can get a better idea the texture added by the dots of white acrylic paint.

That's a lot of color, isn't it?  What a gorgeous digi set this is.

But wait... that's not all.  Check out Perched in the Orchids, another new digital set at Power Poppy.  I haven't had a chance to color it yet, but hope to before long.  It's already printed and waiting.

I'm heading back to the coloring table.  There's lots going on in my stamp room this month.  Stay well and I'll see you back here soon!

Oh Leslie, you captured the delicate beauty of this tiny birds perfectly, the males have all of these colors so I gather this is a handsome young one who I think won't have any problem getting a sweet mate.
The colors on each flower and the Hummingbird are amazing my dear friend, your Prismacolor skills are beyond spectacular, this is one of those images that doesn't need a sentiment, the gorgeousness speaks volumes.
I saw the link to the little Parrot digi, I'm so tempted to get it, they are a sweet little pair.
Thank you for sharing.
Hugs.
Maria.

OMG!! Your card is simply beautiful! Your coloring is amazing and I love those little dots of paint. That must take a long time to color that card! We love hummingbirds ad so enjoy watching them as they come to feed. Hope you have a great weekend!

Oh my GOSH! Be still my heart! Wait! I have to roll my tongue back up into my mouth. LESLIE! How incredible. What a great time you had mixing the Copics and PC pencils, and the while acrylic splatters so carefully applied - it is amazing! You must blow this up and frame it! Your fantasy hummer is jaw-dropping gorgeous, and the haven of flowers around him is beyond my imagination. Wouldn't this make a fun jigsaw puzzle to put together? I ESPECIALLY like your green highlighting around the flora, and the blue highlights around the fauna. Sigh. Your imagination and magical fingers for produced PURE GORGEOUSNESS! Thanks for the inspiration. Now off to see Marcella's store. hugs, de

PS - not sure why my rapidly typing fingers added the preposition "for" where it did. Maybe it was just to make you scratch your head. LOL xx

Leslie, this is a fabulous piece of coloring! WOW! It jumps off the page with vibrant color AND great pencil blending too! I don't know what this little hummer might be, but, I can tell you that we saw a white hummer with a purple throat in Patagonia, Arizona last August along the Santa Cruz river. The Santa Cruz river is a natural Audubon flyway. There are so many hummers you can hardly count them! Gorgeous card, Leslie!
