Monday Fun Day: Birthday Girl

More fun and frivolity today.  Getting a birthday card done and using up spare parts in the process... the spare parts are the frame and the big present.  The big present is a Die-namites die I picked up on a super sale, discontinued.  It's large enough to make it the focal point, and that's how I thought I'd be using it, but I changed my mind along the way.  Here comes Art Impression's "29 Again" birthday girl.

The big present, really, was the start of this card.  Just a not-yet-used die I was trying to find a use for.  I'd cut it in black glitter paper, but set it aside thinking, "okay, now what?"  And there it sat until I made myself do something with it.

Long story short, I decided it would be a fun accent for Grandma's birthday.  Settled on pink because Grandma looks sweet and the black needed some cheering up.  The frame had been cut in white, so I colored it with an RV02 Copic marker.  Grandma is colored with Copics, also, and her balloon is glittered with Stickles.  I smeared the Stickles around with my finger for better coverage.

The sentiment on the front is an older one from Stampin' Up!  The star and flower sprinkles came out of the die I cut for the inside:

The frame, by the way, is a combination of Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Stackables and Taylored Expressions Stitched Rectangle Stacklets.  I love working with frames!  Have a happy day!

A fabulous card Leslie! Such a fun birthday card showcasing Grandma - love AI images. Love the black and pink together. Grandma looks great in pink, and the black glittered balloon fits well with the black glittered present! I agree, you are so good with frames, or any die for that matter! It's the little things that pull your card together, like the star and flower sprinkles on the front, and then of course your insides are done perfectly as well. I"m off today, but don't think I'll be getting any cards done. Bill and I are heading out to enjoy the outdoors. Have a happy day!

This card is so sweet! I love Grandma dressed in pink and the sentiments are great! What a big present! It goes well with Grandma. Woke up to 6" of snow this AM. Glad we got the Easter Egg hunt in on Sat. - it was 55 degrees! Hopefully, this is the last grip of winter! Lots of robins on my grass looking at all this white stuff!

Fabulous card, how fun!! I wonder what is in the big present?? Grandmas is sweet in her pink and how fun to get her out and use her. I truly enjoy seeing your cards and stamps and dies, so fun to visit here...however, while I was writing this, Mack got into my drawer with washi tape and chewed up 5 rolls of my favorites before I finally caught up with him....my fault as I left the drawer slightly open...in the life of a puppy owner..sigh!! I thought maybe, just maybe I would have a good day with him..not going to happen, he has bits of washi tape stuck all over his legs, last week it was my pop ups!

What a wonderful and fun card for Grandma! You've done a masterful job using the present and not letting it overwhelm the card. Grandma is definitely the focal point!

How fun and sure to bring a big smile, I love how you added glitter to the balloon to match the present and backed with pink is perfect to go with your frame, those dies worked perfectly together for that! Don't you just love how we can use those little extra's from other dies to embellish in other places :)
