Twirling Tulips Twice

Hello and welcome!  It was a beautiful holiday weekend which brought with it a change in the weather and I'm thinking it might stay with us for a while.  I've certainly been enjoying it, and so it stands to reason there's less time in my craft room.  However, it's just enough and I have supplies to last a lifetime.  I probably don't need to tell you how much of it has never yet been used.

When Spellbinders had their most recent Warehouse Sale I picked up a few things.  How could I not indulge in a 3D embossing folder or two for only $3 each?  But wait... the Twirling Tulips folder I used today was only $1 !!!  No matter that it was released a year ago, tulips are always beautiful.  Have a look:

There are no dies with this folder, but all the tulips I used on these two cards came from the folder.  I embossed a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" sheet of Neenah 110 lb white -- lightly misted on both sides first to avoid cracking -- then cut out all the viable tulips and leaves.  I arranged them on a sticky sheet and colored with Stampin' Up! inks and sponge tipped eye shadow brushes.  I've been using this same set of brushes for a long time.  Rinse, squeeze, and they're ready to go again.

The first card is 4 1/2" x 6".  I covered the card base with an embossed panel of PTI Berry Sorbet, brushed with white pigment ink to enhance the pattern.  The layered Essential Arches were placed low on the card front to allow more of the embossing to show.  Added gems and a sentiment from my stash popped up on an oval.

The second card was made with leftovers which were too pretty to toss:

The decorative oval is from Spellbinders Infinity Punch & Pierce Plate, resting on one of their Essential Stylish Ovals.  The beautiful neutral designer paper is new-to-me Stamperia Dewdrops.  I recently won a $5 GC to A Cherry on Top and figured it would be just the right amount to apply to a paper pad.  Well... I ended up with five paper pads, but I have to say it was some fun shopping and I made wise choices in that all the papers I chose are specifically for backgrounds.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Sharing here:

Can You Handle the Pressure? -- Must use an embossing folder.  Anything goes or optional zoo/jungle animals.  I hoped to do the optional twist, but it remains to be seen if I'll have time.

Lots of talk today, and now I must rush off.  Thank you for visiting; I know you're busy, too.  Have a beautiful day!

Oh my stars Leslie, these are both stunning! First off, what a deal on the embossing folder!! Those tulips are delightful and I enjoyed reading how you color them using eye make-up pads. So clever of you. What a great use of the cut tulips, I especially like the second card with the beautiful background paper. Congrats on your ACOT win! We can always justify the need for more paper. Thankful that our weather seems to have changed for the better as well. Happy spring, finally!

They're both beautiful Leslie. My favorite is the 1st one. I'm so glad to see you're using your new stuff. BIG GRIN. I used to love using those 3D embossing folders, they give such a nice result, and what a fabulous price sheesh. Weather here is glorious this week. mid 20's C (80's F). So I'm sitting outside doing my art stuff. Have a great day

New tulips?? Yes, please!! I can't believe you didn't notify me of that one, Leslie! lol
Two really gorgeous cards and your fussy-cutting skills really shine, my friend... think of all the money you're saving by not needing those dies!
That designer paper in the background makes my neutral loving heart go pitter-patter - just the perfect bit of gold!

Love these. Your tulips are gorgeous and you must have great patience to cut them all out. I have been trying hard to resist buying any more products for a while. Don't think I am succeeding though. I am glad your weather has improved and you are enjoying it. It is always nice to be outside xx

Who needs a die when you can fussy cut like this, Leslie! And so beautifully colored! It's a pretty contrast with the embossed background! Your second tulips are such a pretty color and the paper makes a beautiful background! I'm loving that die cut pierced oval frame! Now I'm kicking myself for not looking harder and seeing this embossing folder.

Wow, they are both so stunning, and what a great deal you got on them, guess I need to take closer look at those sales :) Your inking with those sponge tips is just wonderful. I don't blame you on ending up with 5 pads, there are such wonderful papers out there, so hard to pass up on. I really love what you used in the 2nd card!

Wow! such beautiful cards! I love what you did with the emobssing tulip folder. Love how you used it for the back ground on your first card, as well as cut out for the second card to tuck in your decorative oval - your creativness always blows me away. also that DP on your card, is so beautiful, works very well with the colour tone and design. Amazing cards Leslie as always! Hugs,
