Snowman Joy

Hi everyone!  How about a little snowman joy today?  This cheerful fella is a Cottage Cutz die set which comes with an optional holly wreath for the "O", but today it's the snowman sending his greeting.  I'll soon switch gears from Christmas cards, but for the time being I'm taking advantage of all the wintry challenges to motivate me to be more prepared this year.

I colored with Copics.  Wink of Stella gave shimmer to the letters, and Viva Ice White pearl pen makes the snow and hat trim.  Perhaps it's a little shiny, but pretty.  In my head I kept hearing the song, "Winter Wonderland", while making this card.  "In the lane snow is glistening...".  Finally, I caught some sparkle and gleam in a photo.  I hand held the card directly under an Ott light.

The two challenges that motivated me to make this relatively simple card are:

Four Seasons - Winter  That little snowman in the red-gloved hands... so cute!
Can You Handle The Pressure - Snow people  My dry embossed snowflake swirl is an oldie 2D folder which I use frequently.  It looks much more defined on the card in real life.  I also used SU Subtle 3D embossing folder on the card base.

That's two more of Darlene and Diane's challenges.  I've already missed the Peace on Earth challenge, oops, but there will be another this month.  I don't think I'm going to manage my self challenge to do all of them.  Our backyard tree removal is happening this week, starting Monday.  They'll be using a crane to lift large chunks of an ailing giant Fir over the house to the street -- eek!  Our power will be off during the operation and I'm sure the whole week will be disrupted.  Hey, it's been a good effort and lots of fun.

I'll catch you again as soon as possible.  Take care!

What a cute snowman!! Embossing folders are great. They come in so many different designs and add so much to the card. I love how you did all the sparkle and shine. Winter Wonderland is one of the first songs I earned on the piano! I'll have it in my head for awhile.

Hey Leslie....sounds like you are feeling the effects of our lovely weather storm too! We are buried under 16 inches of ice and snow here and have a hard time figuring out where our cars are buried. Its crazy! Thankfully we can sit back and stoke the fire and enjoy the beautiful view. Appts cancelled for next week as well. Oh well, I didn't want to go to the dentist! I love your JOY card...glad I am not the only one stuck in snow mode! That embossing folder is a beauty and accents your JOY snowman so beautifully!

Oh my gosh ... this is so cute, Leslie!! Fabulous colours of the sweet snowman and the letters with so much sparkly and pearly goodness. The embossed background shows there's a snowstorm rolling in --- perfect! You are doing great on your self-challenge this month. xx

What a cutie! Anyone would love to receive this one in their mailbox! We are still reeling from the snowstorm we received last Monday. There was almost 8" of snow at my house and it has crippled us! Now we have had freezing rain with snow on top for an added punch with very low wind chills for this morning! We just are not used to this here!

Hi, Leslie! Your delightful little snowman's face happied-up my morning right off! How darling! Loving the little black coal smile, too, and I have the utmost admiration of getting those tiny specks so perfectly placed. The Wink of Stella really shows up on the green lettering. Right down to the sweet pearly snowbanks. Super DAH-LING in every way! I'm sorry to hear about your fir tree. That sounds like a major event and a major expense! It's always sad to see a tree on our property get hit by lightning, or an old oak to succumb to age. Thanks for sharing your inner sweetness with this sweet card! Sending hugs xoxox

Such a cute and beautifully CAS card. I just love the green. Sounds like that tree removal is going to be rather traumatic. Good luck xx

Hi Leslie, your snowman card is adorably CUTE, and gee I don't even have this CC die LOL!! He certainly didn't need the wreath as he makes the perfect O!! I am still waiting on a CC order, it has been shipped 11 days ago and a pretty big order so am getting worried about it, maybe the weather has it held up, I hope that's it, it was a warm 1 degree when we got up this morning but better then below zero like it has been, we got about 2 feet of lake effect snow the other night on top of what we already had, I am SO ready for Spring!! Thanks for joining our challenges too!!

I love it, Leslie!! Such an adorable snowman, and I love the "JOY" since it's my middle name (as an almost Christmas baby.) :-) I'm glad you were able to get such a great photo. Good luck with your tree - sounds a bit scary!! I was just checking out your stamping room, too. I can't believe that was in 2017 that you shared that!

Such an adorable card. I love the cute snowman and how you incorporated him into your sentiment. Lovely coloring. That tree removal sounds daunting. I've been considering having my large, tall pecan tree removed from my backyard after a very large limb fell out of it last year and luckily didn't hit my house. The thought remains with me that any part of that tree could come down again and not miss the house the next time.

This snowman does look joyful and I LOVE his red mittens and the sparkle of the JOY surrounding him! The windswept embossed snowflakes add wonderful texture and I love the subtle embossing of the base! Hope all goes well with your tree removal.

This sounds scarier than 'over the river, and through the woods' my friend!! I am not sure I'd be able to watch that crane, that's for sure!
Maybe you didn't make it to your goal, but your D&D cards have all been a treat. Especially the exceptionally shiny bits you've given your snow dude today! WOW is that something! So cute!

This is truly joyful, Leslie! What a jolly snowman; the snowflake flurry e/f is perfect for the background! And great job getting a terrific close-up photo showing the twinkle and sparkle! Hugs, Darnell (p.s. Good luck with the tree removal. Eek, is right! I've seen that done on TV shows and it's an amazing operation.)

Cute as can be Leslie! We have so much snow you could make an army of snowmen in your yard! It's supposed to warm up this week so maybe kids can go out and play in it. Perfect card for January 2024!
