Hello! I've been away for a few days having a very busy week which wrapped up on Friday with a friend over for lunch and stamping. We made it a Lavinia day because we're both hooked and we need the practice. It's a learning process and thank goodness for all the samples I've pinned and videos I've watched.
This card was inspired by Tracey's video titled "Flight Through the Dark Woods". The title alone is enough to grab me.
I made minor changes, working with what I have and choosing an owl and fox, rather than a fairy. I hoped to suggest a sense of being on the edge of the woods looking out. The sun is setting and the sky is darkening. I've said before how I love a forest.
I keep learning my way around the scene making. I embossed some of the vining leaves in the foreground and once again the powder stuck in places it didn't belong. The next day I added more embossing and it went just fine. I've learned that all those layers of blended ink take longer to dry than I'd imagined, and so I need to give it more time before embossing. A heat tool helps, but waiting is best.

Wow, Leslie! There is so much to this image...so many fine details. It certainly does look as if the creatures are looking out of the forest. This is one terrific, complicated image.

You are pretty incredible, Leslie! Loving the color choices! Of course, I noticed the heat embossing right away. There is something about the Lavinia stamps that allows creativity to come to life in the most interesting of ways. You never know where you'll "be" in the midst of their creations. That owl is magnificent! I've sent you an email with the link for their challenges. All your cards belong there LOL.

this is absolutely marvelous Leslie! Great light coming through the forest!! And the embossed leaves in front really make a difference I did not expect, in that they really stand out as being in FRONT! Beautiful job!!

Wow! Leslie, this is absolutely gorgeous! This could be framed. As you mention, yes I do get the feeling of being inside the forest and looking out, a truly 3D feeling. Love the depth you have created, and of course the owl and fox, so special! The embossed vine really makes it feel so realistic! Just amazing piece of artwork Leslie. I love when you create! You are making amazing cards with the Lavinia stamps, Leslie, and I'm loving seeing the gorgeous scenes. Your descriptions of the process lets me know there is a learning curve, but I'd never know it from your results! I have fun picturing your enjoyment as you make these!
Leslie, this is incredible seeing that you’ve created. I can just feel the closeness of the woods and the sun setting in the distance. Your silhouette images of the owl in the fox are just perfect. You are lucky to have a partner to stamp with. I think I would love that.

An extraordinary card using your Lavinia stamps - I just love the fox and owl [maybe more than I might the fairy!] There's a story here one that begins and ends with this duo who are fast friends. Fantastic scene you have created, I love the way you added the animals to the scene and the dimension you gave to it all with the different colors in the leaves and the embossing! I agree that the inks can take a while to dry.
Oh my, you did such a gorgeous job with this card. You created such a beautiful scene with the owl and fox. Things have been hectic here. Both Joe and I got covid and he was in the hospital for a few days as well and had to get some infusions of medicine. No too much energy here to do anything but enjoyed seeing your creations.
