Hi friends! I'm stamping with the oldies for The Flower Challenge today. It occurred to me that asters are a fall flower so I was pulled in the direction of Heartfelt Creations Delicate Aster Vase (retired).
I've always been especially fond of the wild asters that bloom along the trails in the fall. Using Tombow markers and homemade blender I've colored my asters the impossible shade of blue that lives in my memory after their season passes. Much of the subtle shading on the wood grain background and the vase got washed out in the photos, tsk tsk. There is simply too much contrast between the soft grays and the intensely colored flowers for this photographer.
The 3 1/2 x 6" card base is made of folded designer paper from the Delicate Aster collection. I lined the inside so it's nice and sturdy as well as pretty front and back. The olive green mat is glued flat and the image panel is popped up.
I didn't feel there was need for a sentiment on the front. The clear gems were just enough and, after all, The Flower Challenge is asking for embellishments. A closer look:

As I write this it's a very dark and rainy day -- perfect for staying home and stamping. However, I think we're going grocery shopping, darn it. Duty calls. If I want to make any of the new recipes I've selected I'll need a few things. Enjoy your day!

Absolutely beautiful Asters and yes they are an Autumn card they are my birthday month flowers(Sept)and before I was married the old man who lived next door had an allotment and always brought me a bunch for my birthday. Very dark,cold and wet here too!

Absolutely gorgeous! The colors are so vibrant and really perk up the whole subdued background. Be careful out there in the rainy weather.

This card just pops with color. Love the combination of soft flowers and the look of texture in the background and the script at the bottom. Just lovely!
Hi, Leslie! Did you just make up the name for a new color? "Impossible Blue"? Your flowers always exhibit the most amazing highlights! I especially like the sleek milky-white vase against the white washed fence. Looks amazing! We enjoyed an uncommon cold front last month (saving us from the wrath of Hurricane Ian), and now it is above average into the 90s each day! SHEESH! But blue skies, pretty scenery, happy birds, fluttering pollinators, what more could a person ask for?
So happy I got to see your creation at Jan’s Digi Stamp Challenges . Thanks for the inspiration, and I hope to see more of your designs soon.

That blue is just stunning and I love the woodgrain background. I can see the shading on the woodgrain and the vase so I don't think your photo is as bad as you think, but of course, I haven't seen it in real life. I think the way you have put this card together is really clever and the gems just at the bottom are a perfect finishing touch. Well done, I love it xx

Beautiful card with the pretty Asters!! A lovely design too!! I still have a few pink Asters in my garden but with the snow predicted this weekend I am sure it will be the end of them, maybe I should cut them and bring them inside!!
I always enjoy reading your blog not only about how you have created your card but a peek into your life. Your card is a great way to use up some of the 12 x 12 paper that I have collected. I have purple asters in my yard in Wisconsin, but by how I am sure that are only a memory. I must write down your recipe for a homemade blender solution.
Oh Leslie, this is beautiful, the Aster is one of the flowers for the month of September, my birth month, and this image is just gorgeous.
I love the wood panel in the background done in those light gray shades, it makes the vase with the sweet Asters pop beautifully.

So beautiful Leslie! I understand about photos... when you're holding the real card in your hand comparing to a computer screen, it's most discouraging! Some days I need to leave my card in the other room while I'm editing photos! lol
I see the shading and the contrast of the asters is just beautiful! I always love reading your thought processes as you decide what to create. These asters are a bright spot in my day, colored realistically and adorned with jewels. I love the scripty background too. Sigh. This card is dreamy!

This combination of color and texture is just beautiful, Leslie! When the purple asters start to bloom in the wild, we know it's fall. Sometimes in the higher elevations, there are "blankets" of the asters. Your creation is gorgeous with that strong contrast between the flowers and the that distressed background. Another stunner!
