Hello and welcome back!
It's time for another Christmas card. I didn't think this one would survive the wastebasket, but I rescued it. Suffice to say the bird oval was cut away from the original card and placed on this much simpler, cleaner card. It's Stampendous Heavenly Birds stamp.
Lately I've had a distressing number of cards ending up in the round file.
After gold embossing the birds (last year) I colored (this year) with Tombow markers and homemade blender. I added a dry embossed layer to the card base, then topped with the birds, a Lawn Fawn sentiment with banner, and gold and white branches for accent. Everything is listed in the recipe below.
I'm playing along in two challenges today:
NBUS Challenge #43 -- Never before used schtuff. It took a year to finish the card, but it's still a first time use.
Thanks ever so much for stopping by today. I'm behind in visiting due to three days of taking care of business, then two days down with my back. I'm pretty sure I hurt it in the garden when I lifted something that seemed easy enough at the time. Sure fooled me. Anyhoo, it's very difficult to sit at the computer for any length of time. I'll heal soon and be back to business as usual. Take care!

These two little birds are adorable and love the soft colours you chose.
Lovely card Leslie, the little birds are so cute. Hope your back recovers soon. xx
Gorgeous card showing your amazing talent of colouring and design, Leslie. So glad you rescued it from the round file!! Love the white-on-white background. Sorry to hear about your back. Sending you love and healing vibes ~~~ Love, Loll
It would have been a shame to toss this sweet image, Leslie! Sometimes time gives us a better perspective and we are our own worst critics! These birds are so sweet and they are so pretty cut in an oval! A wonderful background shows them off beautifully!
I feel your pain girl! Hoping you feel better soon. Your card is lovely as usual...those little birds just tug at my heart strings! Gorgeous embossing folder you used behind everything; I always love that look! I also love that it is flat and will be easy to mail so it checks all the boxes for me!
I am certainly glad you rescued this card from the bin, it is absolutely beautiful, love the gold embossing, sets off the colors so nicely!! A gorgeous design and love those pretty plump birds!! I totally understand the back issue, I worked in my garden a few days ago and have had back pain ever sense, I think it is from all the hard weed pulling from a ground that is like cement!! Feel better soon!!
Whoops, forgot to say and thank you for joining our challenge at Peace On Earth!
How pretty. That gold embossing really points up that focal, and I love your coloring. Lots of great texture, so very sweet. I LOVE this!!!
It's so gorgeous, Leslie! I can't imagine you retrieving it from the trash! I would gladly peruse your cast-offs. :-) Bummer about your back. I hope it heals quickly. Take care - your back is nothing to mess around with! Sending healing hugs.
Such a beautiful card. Glad you were able to rescue it and turn it into a gorgeous creation. Love all the different textures you used. So sorry about the back. I hope you heal quickly and back to a regular life.
Survive the waste basket? I always enjoy perusing your artwork before reading anything. I try to guess each detail and who might have manufactured the stamps and die cuts. I couldn't help but laugh out loud at your second sentence! I don't know how you gold embossed the oval frame so meticulously, my friend! You have managed to combine your fantastic coloring, with a darling image, in an elegant setting, with those rich gold metallics to dress it up further! LOVING this card, and glad it survived a threatening hurl to the land fill or recycle bin! Do you have a "to be colored" drawer? I do. LOL hugs, de
Lovely card, cute birds, nice save. Have a great day
It would have been a shame to have those birds not set free from your round file. This card is fabulous, a great save...though it looks to beautiful to be a saved card.
It is always a great feeling and you can not only save a card, but often make it better.
Leslie, I'm so happy you've saved these little holiday tweeties! They look right at home over your embossed panel and with these sweet wishes!

Oh my! I'm so glad these little birds survived the waste basket! They look so cute all dressed up with their Santa hats. They look like they are singing away Christmas Joy! Hope you are feeling better. Have a restful weekend!
Your two birds on a branch is adorable.
Thanks for sharing your talent.
I'm so, so sorry to hear you hurt your back gardening, Leslie. I hate that our backs go merrily along supporting us and our activities until, smack, and down we go. No warning that the thing we are about to pick up xx😝xx. Sending thoughts and prayers that your mussels will relax their hold on the nerves soon and you will be good again.
I'm so glad that you saved that sweet bird oval! It's so pretty with the layered branches, banner sediment, and textured background! Thank you for inspiring everyone at NBUS! Hugs, Darnell
It’s so easy to hurt your back isn’t it? I feel your pain! Hope it heals soon. I’m so glad you rescued those sweet birds from the bin, they’ve made a lovely card. Thank you for sharing at NBUS.
Sorry, you're hurting my friend. Hope it feels better every day.
The sweet birds are so dreamy in these colors, and the delicate gold accents and embossing are lovely. This is a wonderful addition to your Christmas stash!
Leslie, I'm so happy you rescued this pair of chubby and sweet little birds from the trash, this card ended up being gorgeous and delightful.
I love the shiny golden branches combined with the white ones, a very beautiful detail.
Thank you for sharing.
Stay healthy and safe.
XO
Maria.
Gorgeous sweet birds heat embossed and beautifully colored, Leslie. Love your dry embossed background and the die cut twigs. TFS your beauty, my friend. Take care of your back and then you will be back in business soon. Love and Hugs...Nancy
Oh my that is just a beauty, gorgeous coloring and that gold embossing with it just lets it stand out that much more, the embossing is so pretty with it and love your branches and twigs for the corner. I have a feeling that your throw away would be my best, but we are all judgmental about our creations, I just don't throw many of mine away, LOL!
