Cat Nap

Hi everyone!  I made a card for my long-time friend's birthday.  She likes to quilt and take naps, so I thought of this old-timey wood block stamp that's been in my collection longer than I can even remember.  It's dated 1999 and that's probably about the time I got it.  It's a Gary Patterson design for Stamps Happen (out of business).  Love love love Gary Patterson's art, but if you can find the stamps these days it will cost an arm and a leg.

I know I'm dating myself, but I have to say it -- they just don't make 'em like this anymore.  "They" do make other awesome stamps, however, so thank goodness for that.  I would not want the art of stamping to fade away.

This is a 4 3/4" square card, one layer.  Clean, but not exactly simple.  The coloring took quite a while.  I used Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol odorless mineral spirits.  This coloring medium does not show through the cardstock (Neenah 110 lb).

Time for me to sign off now and get busy on many other things.  Wishing you a happy day!

Stamps:  Stamps Happen Cat Nap (1999 Gary Patterson), Your Next Stamp Whatnot Sentiments Eleven  Paper:  Neenah Classic Crest Super Smooth Solar White 110 lb  Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black  Coloring:  Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol odorless mineral spirits

What a wonderful image, so much to see and yet it is really quite small, love your amazing colouring. Your friend will be very happy with this one. Sorry I have got myself behind with commenting, I can't seem to keep up with everything at the moment, but I have read the posts I missed and am sorry to hear you have done something to your back. I messed my back up back in the summer, but thankfully after 5 days of hobbling about it gradually got better. The key is to keep it moving, I have learnt that through bitter experience! Thanks for continuing to share your lovely creations xx

I remember Stamps Happen! They had great images! And this one was inspired by one of my own photos as I napped LOL Seriously, it's darling, and I love the cute sleepy dreams and tummy pouch. I miss my kitty so much! As always, your shading in every stripe, every posy, in the dreamy mice - they are all fantastic! Even the fishie lips are colored! It's darling in EVERY way. BTW, I have not forgotten your BD tomorrow - your card is still not addressed, but please know you've been on my mind, and I'll be celebrating you with a late card. hugs, de

Seems like the perfect card for your friend, for sure! And it DOES seem like it would take a long time to color - good things she's that special. LOL!

How adorable is this? All the delicious details in that stamp! You're right they don't make them like this anymore. You're coloring is divine as usual.!
