Hello friends! I'd like to share a fall birthday card today. Unusual sentiment for a birthday card, perhaps, but inside I stamped "It's your day. Relax." I'm thinking that pulls it together. The thing is, I've had this sentiment since 1999 and don't find many uses for it, yet it has survived countless stamp room purges. I like it. I hand cut the sentiment banner and sponged the edges.
The slumbering critter (squirrel?) is from a 2020 Penny Black stamp set called Hugs & Cuddles. I colored with Tombow markers and homemade blender. Tim Holtz wreath and Impression Obsession leaves provide a resting place. The brick and board combo background has been in my card parts drawer for a while.
This was a fun card and I hope you enjoy it. Sorry to rush off, but I'm still not doing well with sitting too long at the computer. I'm on the road to recovery. Each day my back feels a little better.
I'll finish by linking up to some challenges I'd like to play along with:
Four Seasons Challenge - October. Anything goes fall.
Penny Black Saturday Challenge. I did not use the optional "Spooky".
Stamps: Penny Black Hugs & Cuddles, Anita's sentiment (very old) Paper: Fabriano Artistico Extra White 140 lb hot press watercolor, Neena white, Core'dinations, Bazzill Chocolate Ink: Palette Noir, SU Chocolate Chip, various for wreath, banner, and wood grain panel Coloring: Tombow markers and homemade blender Other: Sizzix (Tim Holtz) Brick Wall embossing folder, linen thread, Sizzix (Tim Holtz) Funky Wreaths, Impression Obsession Small Leaf Set, foam mounting tape

What a pretty card. I love all the different elements and your coloring and design really pull it all together. Sorry you are still dealing with back issues. I can relate. Hope it gets better soon.
What a fabulous little creation. I love that brick background, and that sweet little hedgehog is so stinkin' cute. Great idea to use the wreath, it really brings this card all together. FABULOUS!!
cute card and The sentiment is great. It's always nice to get away from the "usual" way to say Happy Birthday. Have a great day
Leslie, another fabulous card. I love every element and I am a fan of the non-standard birthday greetings.
Beautiful birthday card with a fall wreath and love that little hedgie peeking out ♥
An adorably CUTE fall card, love the background, the cute little hedgie and all your fabulous details, one of my most favorite fall cards I have seen! Thanks too for joining our challenge at Four seasons!!
I immediately heard the sweet sounds of Mama Cass, Leslie! That sleepy critter looks like a squirrel or maybe an opposum? nah - has to be a hedgehog! lol No matter he's as cute as can be all curled up in your sweet wreath!
Say nighty night...

I agree and send out a big thank you to the people who post these challenges and the Design Teams! So much inspiration! Your card is awesome, Leslie! Love the sweet critter all curled in a wreath and the fantastic background! I hope your back gets better and better. Back pain is no fun!
What a cute little critter all curled up and comfy on your beautiful background. I'm glad you didn't purge your sentiment. It's so sweet! I could see it used with one of Colorado ice stamps looking up at the sky! Glad you are feeling better. I spent time in the dentist chair today so no stamping fun for me! UGH!!
I feel so happy to be commenting ON THE DAY of your post, yaay!
I love seeing what you pull out of your stash and card parts drawer. Your combination of elements make a beautiful card, and I love the way you teamed the sentiments. That brick background is gorgeous! I wish that I looked as cute as that hedgehog while I sleep....
Stunning card, gorgeous colour and beautiful design...♥
Well here I am again late to the party! All I can do is apologize! I love your card and the pretty elements! The colors just speak to me and the little hedgehog is adorable!
Aww that sleeping critter all curled up in the leaves, he fits perfectly in that wreath and I love the added leaves with the jute bow, looks great against your embossed background. Glad you found a use for your sweet sentiment, see there was a reason you kept it :)
Sure hope your back heals soon, if you are like me these days things take a little longer to heal.
Love that wreath and sweet lil critter! Awesome card!
Wow Leslie, this is the sweetest Fall card I've ever seen! Love it! Thanks for sharing with us at PBSC:)
I absolutely love this little card Leslie and am glad the sentiment has survived many stamp room purges - it's so sweet! The little creature has found a perfect place to hibernate and your colours make everything look warm and cosy. Thank you for sharing at Tic Tac Toe, Vicky x
PS Thank you for your comment about my pair of golden girls. I wish they were both mine but in fact, only Eva lives with me; Lulu is a young golden who I'm currently walking once a week. She is a 'covid pup' who didn't get really get enough socialisation, so Eva and I are teaching her 'how to be a dog' and I'm happy to say she is a very apt pupil!!
A beautiful card Leslie. I love the way all those lovely elements work together to create this wonderful card. The sentiment is perfect!! Thanks so much for sharing with us at PBSC.
