Pastel Bird

Hi!  I'm back with another week of Rubbernecker.  I've seriously been having fun with these stamps.  Honestly, what gets into us that makes us wait so long to use our purchases?  You might be the rare person who gets right on them, but I know I'm not alone in my habits.  I'm trying to change my ways.

Today my Rubbernecker is in the sentiment and the dreamy background.  I've had the sentiment and leaves for a while, but the flower is relatively new and not used till now.  I don't do much with silhouette stamps, so I danced around this one for a while and then I found my way.

The background is the Versamark resist technique.  I stamped on glossy white cardstock with Versamark ink, let it set for a day while I was busy doing other things, then came back and blended the inks over top.  The pastel shades gave me a very soft and delicate background for the Memory Box Serene Bird and Branch, which is also being used for the first time.  Colors and other details are listed in the recipe below my signature.

Two challenges today:

Can You Handle the Pressure?  Card must use an embossing folder, and their optional twist this time is pastels.  I embossed the entire Blush Blossom card with a Wicker Weave folder, then swiped the front with a white pigment pad to make the color even more soft and sweet.

I'm also sharing at Darnell's NBUS challenge #38 because my Rubbernecker flower and the bird & branch die set are first time use.

I'll be back soon.  Happy crafting!

Stamps:  Rubbernecker Smiles and Thinks of You sentiment, Silhouette Flower #4, Rubbernecker Leaves (name?)  Paper:  Glossy white, textured semi-gloss white, SU Blush Blossom, Neenah 110 lb white for bird and branch  Ink:  Versamark, SU Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal, Cameo Coral, white pigment ink (to lighten card base), Memento Tuxedo Black for sentiment  Dies:  Memory Box Serene Bird and Branch, Spellbinders Hemstitch Rectangles (image panel), Taylored Expressions Stitched Rectangle Stacklets  Other:  Cuttlebug Wicker Weave embossing folder, gold cord

I love the background and never thought of using a silhouette stamp in white but so perfect with the light background inks which sets the mood for your bird. The little bit of twine works like a branch for the bird especially with the leaves. I have looked at that bird so often. I believe I am done looking. lol.

Leslie, this is not only the tweetest pastel nature creation EVER, but oh-so-beautifully done! Love your gentle inking patterns and stenciling. And yes, I have stamps well over 25 years old still crying out to be used! xx

Oh my goodness, this is Gorgeous! Love the resist emboss technique, this made for such a beautiful background for your lovely bird. Leslie I just love this card! Your colours are such a beautiful blend. I ordered this bird a few months back but haven't used it yet. And your not alone, I have lots of purchases that have yet to be used, just not enough time! Thank you sharing such a beautiful card Leslie, love when you create. Such a nice surprise to see on my Feedly page today after work! Enjoy the rest of your day!

I've never tried the VersaMark technique. I love how it leaves a more subtle look than embossing and your pastel shades are so pretty! This bird is AWESOME! Your coloring makes it extra special! I take way too long to use my new things. When I order I think I can get right too it and want to, but somehow when I get it other things seem more pressing.

Oh Leslie, I love this one. It is just so perfect. Very calming and serene and the colours are perfect. I must try blending on glossy paper, I don't think I have ever done it and the lovely soft flower impression is so lovely. Great idea to pop it onto an embossed background too, love that little bit of extra detail poking out round the sides. A perfect card xx

The soft and dreamy feel of this design really speaks to me, Leslie. I think that sediment is so lovely and goes perfectly with the sweet bird and blended floral background. I also love the stitching and the texture from the embossing. It's really brilliantly composed and beautifully photographed, too! Thank you for inspiring everyone at NBUS! Hugs, Darnell

Thank you so much Leslie for sharing all the detailed description of your beautiful layers, colors and the EB Resist Technique of your soft and pretty card. I LOVED your sweet vertical stamped sentiment. I remember years ago when you shared with your SU group how to use Emboss Resist on Glossy paper:-) It was magical then and...still is magical:-) You have me inspired...again, as always, dear forever friend. Miss you...Love and Hugs..Nancy
P.S. We have been very busy gardening and Denny cutting grass and trying to get the veggie garden in ... when it dries out enough between rains. Not complaining..just saying:-)
