Wisteria

Hi there!  I made a card "just because".  Isn't that the best reason?  I saw a picture of wisteria recently and it reminded me of this Beeswax Small Wisteria stamp I've had in my collection since 2014.  Not the first time I've used it, but it's been a while.  I was surprised to see there is still a Beeswax site with this stamp available.

The wisteria is stamped in Memento London Fog and colored with Copics.  I wanted a no-line look but it wasn't easy to see the detail.  Very frustrating and I almost scrapped it.  In the end I'm glad I persevered.

Before commencing with the coloring I loosely masked the wisteria and stamped the brick wall (another old stamp).  I hate to tell you how poorly that turned out.  No matter how many times I stamped I couldn't get the bricks anywhere near the wisteria.  Finally, I removed the mask and stamped the brick wall one more time right over top of the wisteria.  Thank goodness for the MISTI.

The frame is popped up.  The Bird Scroll corner was gilded by pressing in my Versamark pad and then embossing with Ranger Queen's Gold.  The sentiment was gold embossed as well.  The photo below shows more of the golden shine.

Spring is coming along beautifully here, but you know how fickle she can be -- warm and sunny one day, cold and wet the next.  However, I'm looking out my windows and seeing blooms and fresh greens no matter the weather, and that is a happy sight!  Wishing you a happy spring, too!

Stamps:  Beeswax Small Wisteria, Son Light Impressions (Cornish Heritage Farms) Brick Wall Backgrounder, Hero Arts Flowers are Poetry  Paper:  Neenah 80 & 110 lb white, SU Perfect Plum textured  Ink:  Memento London Fog & Toffee Crunch, Versamark  Coloring:  Copics  Dies:  Spellbinders Hemstitch Rectangles, Bird Scrolls, misc rectangle for sentiment  Other:  Ranger Queen's Gold embossing powder, foam mounting tape

A beautiful card, the brick background is awesome, I am so happy you were able to salvage it, as is gorgeous! I have tried to grow Wisteria but to no avail, so enjoy seeing it here. Thank you so much for my card, it is adorably cute and I will treasure it always, thank you for thinking of me, a nice surprise and it made my day. I am hoping to send out some Easter cards, but we are at the lake house and as I sit here typing this I am looking out at the ice mounds on Lake Huron, our beach has drastically changed and not for the better!! Not sure when we are headed home so hoping I won't be too late to send out my cards. I am stitching away here on those SB stitched dies while here, and brought a few other dies to play with...once again Thank YOU!!!

Beautiful card Leslie. The wisteria is fabulous ... I can see why you've kept this amazing stamp all these years. It looks perfect on that beautiful brick wall. Doesn't look like you struggled at all with this card, which is a nod to your amazing talent, my friend. xx

Hello Leslie: You just took me on a sweet trip back to New Orleans, when my husband and I took our first trip there in 1994. These gorgeous trees are all over the French Quarter with their amazing amethyst blooms hanging from trellises and canopies, it's absolutely gorgeous.
I love, love the brick wall behind this lovely, flowering Wisteria branch.
Thank you for sharing, my friend.
XO

I'm so glad that you explained how you got the brick wall on this card. I thought it may be in the stamp set as it looks like it should be. YOu have brought the wisteria to life on this card, it is good that you persevered. The end results are magnificent. You have once again inspired me with your talent.

Your wisteria is so pretty growing over this fantastic brick wall, Leslie! I love the addition of the gold die cut in the corner! A gorgeous card and it's always fun to just create for the sake of enjoyment. Did I see that it was snowing in OR today? Crazy weather everywhere!

I fell in love with your card! I love wisteria and have tried many times to grow it but to no avail! I really like the older stamps. You did a fantastic job on the wall! I have come to depend on my misti on a regular basis. The gold embossing just sets the card off - beautiful job! Joe brought me in some daffodils from the yard, so I hope that is a good sign that we will have no more snow. Margaret's are all sick with the flu even the baby so we are staying away. Hopefully, they will be able to join us at Jennifer's for the Easter egg hunt and dinner. I wanted to wish you and yours a blessed Easter.

I am glad you stuck with it because it looks amazing, I thought at first that was all one big stamp, gorgeous coloring, and I just love the effect of the corner embossed, beautiful detail with it!

So gorgeous! The colors are so vibrant. I love the brick background. It makes it look so real with the wisteria growing over the brick wall. I think we are going right into summer. The temps are up in the mid to high 80s already. Still need to work on my flower beds.

I cannot believe it - you stamped the brick OVER this gorgeous wisteria and there isn't a speck of it showing through!? Your no-line coloring is beyond beautiful, Leslie - it's magical, too!

I am so glad you persevered with this as the end result is just fabulous. Your colouring is brilliant and how you managed to do it without the brick wall showing through I will never know. I have seen wisteria starting to flower in a couple of sheltered places recently. They are so special and how nice that you made a card just because you felt like it. It feels like a while since I have done that xx

Wow! this is stunning Leslie! I can only imagine how beautiful this is in real!
Love everything about this. You did a wonderful job on the colouring of the wisteria! Yes, spring is happening here too even though we have had some late wintery weather, the plants still seem to have survived. Thank you for persevering, as this turned out beautifully. Happy Spring Leslie!

I am so far behind on visiting your blog! (We were in Hillsboro for 5 days...the 5th was extra because HWy 26 was a parking lot after the strange snow) Here in NE Oregon, we've had snow every day since! It basically melts by afternoon, but the morning is all white. And I think we have it through Saturday.) Anyway, I love the wisteria image, which is beautifully colored. The "frame" is beautiful, as is the shiny diecut trimming the lower corner. It's a beautiful card all around.

Your perseverance paid off with this beauty, Leslie! I'm so glad you made a card just because - because you love wisteria and because you could. All reasons to be glad. I love it, Leslie, especially the gold accents. Happy Easter to you!
