A Rose for Sympathy

While I was taking a little blog break Marcella at Power Poppy came along and gave us a new digital stamp... and when I say "gave" I mean it's FREE to everyone!  It's called Rose -- a simple name for an image of classic elegance.

Marcella created this digital rose in collaboration with Alyce Keegan of Kit and Clowder for one of Alyce's free coloring classes.  This is a big deal for anyone who wants to learn more about coloring.  I checked it out and I'm a little bit stunned by her generosity.  What an opportunity!

For today's rose I used SU Watercolor Wonder crayons (retired), coral over yellow.

I bring these watercolor crayons out to play every now and then.  They're a bit waxy so the colors spread differently than regular paints.  Also, I don't get a lot of saturation.  Nevertheless, I still have them after all these years, and they look so pretty all lined up in their tins.

Needing to replenish my sympathy cards, I chose Power Poppy's Soothing Sympathy clear set for my sentiment.

I'll see you again on Friday.  Wishing you a happy day!

This is probably one of my favorite color of Roses, the pink and yellows!! So very delicate and pastel...I just love this!! How fun to get a free digital, will have to check it out....this makes me want to add more Roses to my own garden, I gave up years ago when the Japanese Beatles were eating everything...sigh!

This is so gorgeous the way you colored the image. I grabbed that Rose too. I love it but only got as far as printing it out but maybe I can do some coloring this week if time permits.

Your card is gorgeous. I love the two-toned rose. I actually signed up for this class with K&C so I was able to get this rose image. I haven't colored mine up yet, but may try it in a couple different mediums.

I cannot think of anything so soothing as the colors in a "peace" rose, Leslie, UNLESS, it is a rose you have colored. Your two vertical panels look "one" with your rose's stem, and the rich colors. It's a beautiful sympathy card! hugs, de

Oh wow it just amazes me how you can color in any kind of medium and just do an outstanding job, this totally looks like it is a real rose, the colors and the way you blended them is just wonderful!! I like how you added a couple strips of your basic grey pack for a bit of pattern with it. I love that sentiment too, Beautifully done!

What a gorgeous card Leslie, and love that you made this into a sympathy card. Unfortunately we can never have too many of these on hand, at least for me they get used quite frequently. Beautiful water colouring with the crayons. You know, I have these too and I can't remember the last time I used them. Your card colour and layering of paper is very tastefully done! And somehow I missed this freebie, so just went and grabbed it, thank you for that! So glad to see your card today, I am still in a slump of no card making. I think you might of inspired me to do some stamping tonight! Looking forward to your Friday post. Have an awesome day!
