Twofer Challenge #14: Balloons

It's Twofer Time again, friends!  We're doing balloons this time, as you can see by the graphic below.  Make two cards for two different occasions, each a completely different design/layout.  Use stamps, dies or stencils, but most of all -- have fun!  If you need more clarification on the rules, please see the Twofer Blog here and here where Darnell has been very thorough.  FAQ here.

I've made one for birthday and one for Halloween.  I never come up with unconventional ideas for this challenge, but the Halloween card was the first thing that came to mind after the traditional birthday card.

I used similar colors on both cards which made for easy decisions.  Glitter paper for the die cut birthday balloons, and a Kaleidacolor pad to stamp the confetti.  Worked out just great!  I'm thinking these colors would be good for a fall birthday.

(Impression Obsession Ballons, Old Uptown Designs birthday sentiment, and old Stampin' Up! Background Basics confetti stamp)

Now, for the Halloween card... The balloons became ghosts when I put them in the square frames and added googly eyes.  The largest ghost has part of a balloon string for his crooked smile, and the mid-sized ghost has a mouth made from one of the inner pieces that pop out of a balloon string die when it's cut.  1/4" punched circles behind the googly eyes.  I gave the spider googly eyes, too, so he wouldn't look quite so fierce.

(Same Impression Obsession Balloons for the ghosts, Cheery Lynn Designs Happy Halloween Twiggy Wreath for the sentiment and spider, Cheery Lynn Spider Net, Cottage Cutz Double Stitched Square Set)

That's it from me!  I hope you'll hop over to the Twofer blog, get some ideas, leave some love, and consider playing along.  Have a happy day!

Holy Cow!! Seriously??? Leslie, what an amazing pair of Twofers!!!!!
The glittery balloons on your birthday card are so beautiful, and I love that confetti stamp.
Now, that Halloween card is a riot, love your Ghosts peeking out the windows, adding googly eyes to them and your adorable spider was a genius idea.
Fabulous pattern paper too.
Thank you so much for sharing.
See you in the gallery.

Darn girl, you rocked this challenge! Oh my goodness I am so awestruck by your Halloween card - using balloons for the ghosts, and string for one of the mouths - who would of though of that but you! You are so creative Leslie! Love both cards, but the Halloween takes the cake. Absolutely fabulous cards! I was so surprised to see your post today, so glad you did! Enjoy your day!

What a duo of delight, Leslie!! Your conventional use of the balloons on the first card is so sweet; I love the glitter paper!! And the confetti adds just the right amount of 'extra.' But you've thought way out of the box, or in the case of these fun creatures, way in the box for your second card! How clever to make little ghosties!! I love that idea, and then to use bits of the string... Darn clever!! You've made two fabulous cards. Love 'em!! Have a good week. Bev

Well, you knocked my socks off with your unconventional Twofer design this month, Leslie, and I'm sure our participants will feel the same way! We will all want to make our ghosts out of balloons from now on! I love the paper you used, the little frames, the way you did their googly eyes (genius to put a circle behind each one!), and the extra fun of the web and googly-eyed spider! That's not to say I don't alsolove your birthday card! I love the shimmer of the balloons and how you used a K pad for the confetti! Love the font of the sediment, too. And that's a cool slanty way to do your matting, btw! I'm thinking this card would be great for any season, age, or gender! Enjoy your Sunday! Hugs, Darnell

LOVE your Halloween card Leslie. How clever to use the balloons for your ghosts! And I love that you've used other parts of the die to add faces to your ghosts. They are so fun poking out of the windows. Awesome DSP for the background and then great layering of elements for a very special Halloween card! And great idea to use the same colours for your birthday card. Your glittery balloons are so sweet. Love the stamped streamers in the background. Great work Leslie! xx

As if that wasn't enough, you came up with using your balloons as ghosts! I love, love, love this second twofer! The fun star paper is awesome, the ghosts in the frames just blow me way as you would have never know they were balloons-you gave them such adorable expressions too. Yep, this is an awesome card!
