Monday Fun Day: Garden Scene

Friday is my day for flowers, and Mondays are for cute and fun cards.  Well, today I have cute flowers on a fun card.  The thing is, I cut this Poppystamps Thicket Frame a while back and the lower half didn't cut properly.  Rather than throw it away I cut it down to a square and then this happened.

I used wadded bathroom tissue to apply ink to the frame.  First SU Green Galore, then Glorious Green.  Both are retired, I believe, as they were nobody's favorite SU greens, but I like how they look here.  Smooshed the wadded tissue into the ink pads, then smooshed onto the white card stock.

Completed the scene with Copic coloring and die cuts:

  • Pretty Potties stamp set from Pink Petticoat
  • Impression Obsession Beach Fence, Grass Border, and Cats
  • Poppystamps Thicket Frame

The sentiment on the front is from Power Poppy, and inside is a Stampin' Up! sentiment with more Pretty Potties flowers, another cat, and some leftover grass:

First time use of the cats dies, and one more Pretty Potties stamp and I will have used every one in the set.  Oh, happy day!  Enjoy your week!

Here kitty, kitty! Needless to say, I love the kitty! Using bathroom tissue to apply color is such a great technique and I love the look. Also love the fence; so as you can see there is much about this card I love. Well done you!

"O" Happy Day it is! What a delightful card to set my eyes on first thing Monday morning - a great way to start my day. Gorgeous card Leslie. What a great technique for your thicket frame, love the outcome. I need to give this a try. You have created a wonderful scene, the flower barrow is so cute along with all your added die cuts - fence, grass and of course the black cat. Well done indeed! TFS, enjoy your day!

You are right pretty and fun. Great job combining stamping and dies. I have tried and failed at that more times than I can tell you. Smart save on the die that did not cut the bottom correctly.

Oh my dear Leslie, what a gorgeous, colorful card!!! Love every single detail on it, this garden scene makes me want to sit in my back yard among the flowers, once they start coming up.
I've never heard of the "Wadded Bathroom Tissue" technique, it looks amazing on your die cut Thicket Frame. I just adore that little kitty taking a peek inside this wonderful garden.
Awesome and beautiful card, my dear, thank you for sharing.

Maria.

Gorgeous garden scene, Leslie. Were you inspired by your own beautiful garden? I am just in after 3 hours in our gardens. It has been a perfect gardening kind of day..don't you agree?!? So wonderful not being too hot or too cold or too windy:-)

I love how your smooshing with your TP gave your frame such a pretty green texture. Your greens have been retired for years and unfortunately..I gave mine away.

TFS your garden beauty, my friend. Hugs...

What a great save to use the die cut this way and I love the cuteness of the stamp you have used, too plus the fact you added a cute kitty cat. In fact I am delivering a black kitten today from the 14 we have....can I send you one or 2 or 13?...HAH!! (& of the 14 are black)

Gosh, your smooshing technique sounds just too hi-tech for me, Leslie! LOL and look how fantastic your leaves came out! Actually, this looks like my yard with the greenery, container gardening, and my black kitty, who prefers being outdoors. She looks over the pastures and through the bushes and woods, to watch all the creatures she believes she rules. Oh to have the life of a kitty! LOL Speaking of Life -- Happy Mother's Day, dear friend. I did not get any cards mailed, but cherish the loveliness in my friends who nurture and have raised their wonderful children. Wishing you all the best in the coming week. hugs, de

Leslie, you really achieved a lot of depth on this card. I love the kitty position outside of the panels. That really gave a 3D look AND I loved tissue smooshing technique on the Thicket frame - beautiful. That's really to bad that SU retired those greens because they are so natural on this piece. I've also loved how you finish a card inside. I need to remember to start doing that again. Lovely summer card!

I love your lovely garden scene Leslie! I felt sure I'd left a comment but then I was on vacation, so I'm happy to get caught up now. You incorporate this elements beautifully, and they make such a happy card! My favorite is the flower-filled wheelbarrow and it adds a pretty bit of perspective the way the cat is looking into the garden through the picket fence.
The inside is so nice - I have to finish mine more often.
