Hello! We made it to Friday and, finally, a card. I started watercoloring these tulips before we went camping. I had one bloom done. I even took along the few supplies I'd need to finish them, but they never came out of the case. After several days home it was a treat to sit down and complete the painting.
It's not that I haven't colored these Power Poppy digital Tulips many times, but they were printed up and sitting in my digi box which I'm working my way through, so out they came. Let's face it, it's a beautiful image and I'll probably color them many more times yet. Marcella's flowers, sigh... need I say more?
I used Tombow markers on Arches 140 lb hot pressed watercolor paper. The designer paper curve is the negative left over from cutting a landscape die, and it fit nicely with the shape of the tulips.
You can't tell from looking, but the silk ribbon bow lays flat as a pancake and will not interfere with mailing one bit. I punched an 1/8" hole in the panel and settled the knot into it with a little dab of Aleene's Tacky Glue. This works best with the image panel popped up as it is here.
The sentiment is another Power Poppy digi -- Winter Pick Me Up.
I have a few things to do in the garden, but I'm pretty sure stamping will happen again soon. It's coming along much like our spring -- in fits and starts. As I write this, the sun is shining again after a day or two of clouds. Must enjoy it while it's here. It was a long, wet winter! Have a happy day!

Beautiful card Leslie, I can see what you like the image so much as it is beautiful as well. Great use and idea for the leftover piece of paper too!! I have a few tulips in my garden though not many as the 'critters' eat them all up! Glad you are finally able to have nice weather, same here, now I just need the energy to get myself motivated to work outside! The bugs are terrible..ugh...guess that's what we get for living on the water!
You take my breath away with your coloring, Leslie! And, wow, what a great overall design for showcasing those stunning flowers! Thank you for the tip about punching a little hole for the ribbon knot! All these years of making cards and I've never thought of that, nor seen it said anywhere! I always learn so much from you!! Thank you! Hugs, Darnell
Oh, my goodness! This is breathtakingly beautiful! What gorgeous colors and I love the way you painted them. The whole card layout is fantastic!
WOW Pat, those tulips are amazing. Your watercolouring is gorgeous, such depth of colour on the petals and the leaves and I love the light wash around the the flowers. So beautiful :)
Beautiful. Love the coloring. Have a great day
Your tulips are so beautifully colored, Leslie. I love your curved and stitched designer paper and bow too. I always love how you add shading around your colored flowers with just the right colors and amount of shading. A Leslie styled beauty! TFS my friend. Hugs...
This is so gorgeous. The little bit of pp with the stitching is such a sweet
accent for the tulips.
This is beautiful, Leslie. Your watercoloring is gorgeous. Brought those tulips to life. Love the curved design too. x
So, so beautiful, Leslie, and I love the stitched panel and the cool bow.
You're right, Leslie, the beautiful tulips are a classic and should be used often, they're too pretty to let sit on the shelf (or in the digital pile.)
Love LOVE the gorgeous coloring and how they shine with highlights. The curved panel and the perfect bow are just the right touch too. Thanks for the tip about the knot, I will have to try that!
These tulips are GORGEOUS, Leslie! I don't think my printer can handle the 140 lb. watercolor paper, so I'm amazed that you could print the flowers and the sentiment! Then your coloring amazes me! WOW!
It's so beautiful. I love your watercoloring your little tricky bow is just perfect for your design. Sigh! I'd like to be either of those places - in my garden or in my stamp room. I keep looking for different papers to use for my digital stamps. I haven't used the 140 lb. watercolor paper yet. I'll have to give it a try.
WOW~! Be still my 'heart'! Leslie your card is amazing. Your beautiful watercoloured tulips - love the richness of the pink and that bit of mint green around the tulips just makes them glow. And how perfect is that left over piece of designer paper, it fits perfectly. Your silk ribbon and bow finishes this off beautifully! I'm so glad you had a chance to finish colouring this to share with us today, I'm still in 'awe' over this card. Just gorgeous! I think I need to pull out my tombow markers, it's been a long time since I used them. Enjoy the nice weather while you can :).
You always just amaze me with your coloring, another stunning job!! Love how you stitched on that piece at the top and to think it was a scrap from another project and just worked so perfectly. I really need to remember to try your technique for the ribbon.
Hope you enjoyed a nice day out, we had a storm go through which kind of cooled things down a bit, but it was still nice enough to plant some seeds in hopes that they take :)
This is another masterpiece of coloring! I don't know anyone who can hold a candle to your coloring.....in ANY medium! This is gorgeous!
Leslie, what a gorgeous card! I love Marcella's flowers, and these tulips are a favorite! Your watercoloring is exquisite with such beautiful colors, and I love the nestled bow...so clever and great for mailing. Isn't it wonderful to have scraps? Love how you've used this one. Beautifully done! I hope you enjoy this well-deserved spring. It's been a long one for most of the country, and it's wonderful that you are getting out in the camper now. Have a wonderful weekend! Hugs!
