Whatever Wednesday: Landscape, Inlay Style

Hello again!  More fair weather card making today.  When the sun comes out the cards get simpler.  I needed a masculine "thinking of you" card, and this one fit the bill.  It left my house so quickly I don't even remember what I stamped inside.

I'd been admiring the Tutti Designs stained glass dies and had all of them bookmarked for future shopping.  Well, along came a not-to-be-resisted sale at Dies R Us, and three of them jumped into my basket.  This one is "Landscape".   Appropriately named.

It's a no-fuss card design, but colorful, and I have to say I could thoroughly enjoy making bunches of these.  Absolutely no special coloring skills required.  In fact, it seems to want this child-like simplicity.  Maybe I'm just telling myself that so I can keep on making them along these lines.  That's the plan, I'll confess.

I needed a quick card, but I still wanted to have fun with it, so I did this somewhat like a jigsaw puzzle.  Cut the die from white paper and poked the inner pieces out, just letting them fall in a jumbled up pile.  Glued the die cut outline onto the wood grain panel, and then commenced putting my puzzle together.  I determined where each piece fit and then colored it accordingly, using Copic markers.  Finished up with a second die cut outline glued over top for dimension.

I made one of these on vellum, too, with a black outline and some embellishment, but this simpler one with the white outline had my heart.  I'll look forward to coloring the other two -- birds and flowers.  I'm curious as to how they'll turn out.

I'll pop back in when I can.  As of this writing I'm officially out of cards, but we'll see what happens.  Coloring is in progress, sigh... springtime!  Enjoy your day!

What a lovely and very unusual card you have created. I must say I find it very appealing and could see how it could become addictive. Spring has come to East Tennessee and the veggies are in just in time for 3 days of Spring rains. Hoping you have a great rest of the week.

Ahhh, so you fell for some..lol....I love how you have inlaid the pieces, very creative, very pretty!! Can't wait to see the others...fun to go shopping isn't it? I have a couple cards in progress, just need to get them finished..we'll see, somehow I haven't been in much of a creative mood!

Wow! Fantastic card, Leslie! Your masculine recipient will be delighted! I'm always impressed by your color choices, and this one is really amazing. Before reading your post, I pondered, "Surely she did not run the die through that many colors of card stock! Then I wondered if you had run white paper through the emboss sandwich, and color all the "innards", then run another white through to get the stained glass "lead". Your way makes much more sense, of course, and twice the fun in creating (I love puzzles of any kind). Your 2nd die cut makes everything look expertly crafted, just like a glass cutter's art! Looking forward to seeing your other stained glass exhibitions, especially the one with vellum! huggers, de

Well aren't you the clever one and I LOVE it! Just perfect! Busy busy time around here so I'm late getting around to all my friends but I couldn't go without being inspired by your creativity & coloring ... even if it is in a 'puzzle piece' manner ... still AMAZING & gorgeous!

This truly looks like a "leaded" piece of glass! Everything is so clean and neat, as well as beautifully colorful. I'm sure I've never seen a design like this one. It's certainly a perfect card for a man.

I love all your cards, Leslie, but your masculine cards inspire me the most because I have such a hard time making them. This one is amazing and so unique!! I love how your Copics add just the neatest texture to each puzzle piece. This is a fabulous creation, and I have already clicked to check out the dies. Thanks for sharing!

How pretty!I love the wood grain background, a perfect choice for the mountain scene. I just got a Tutti stained glass too, but haven't gotten it out of the package yet.Maybe tomorrow! The last one I made I used shimmer paper and liked that look too. But coloring looks more fun!!

A creative guy card and looks rather quick with the die cut. I like the colors and the easy design.
