Monday Fun Day: Drink Rainbows, Eat Glitter

Happy Monday!  Well, here I am having fun again.  I hope it's a good day for you, as well.  Would you like to see more rainbows and blue skies long about now?  Across the northern hemisphere the weather is still pretending it's winter, but throwing in a nice day for a teaser now and then.  I wish it would make up its mind!  Guess I'll just have to pretend, too... pretend it's not pouring down rain outside right now.

I played with a new stamp set today.  No, it's not that cute little mouse girl.  It's the sentiment -- one of several in Your Next Stamp's Whatnot Sentiment Set Eleven.  Lots of good, useful sentiments in the set, but, honestly, this is the one that sold me.

I didn't have a Your Next Stamp character to go with the sentiment (although I have some cute ones bookmarked for later, ahem) so I pulled out this very old, yet still joyful, mouse girl by Great Impressions.  Mixing old with new is a real treat for me and justifies that hoard of stamps sitting in the drawers.  I know you have them, too.

Okay, the particulars:

  • The background is rubbed with SU! Tempting Turquoise, then splattered with water.
  • I made the rainbow with oval dies, which wasn't quite as easy as I expected it to be, so now I'm thinking along the lines of a rainbow die set -- another "later" for my wish list.  Smeared the rainbow with glue and sprinkled with SU! Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  It's all sugary and I love it!
  • Poppystamps Stitched Landscapes and Twirly Clouds.  Taylored Expressions Stitched Rectangle Stacklets.
  • Punched flowers and sparkly Nuvo drops sprinkled across the landscape.
  • Copic coloring.
  • The little mouse girl is popped up because she's jumping for joy, so happy about her friend's birthday and the prospect of drinking rainbows and eating glitter.

If you've read to the end, thank you for that.  I enjoy our little visits.  We're all in this stamping thing together, aren't we?  Have a happy day!

Well this sure makes me smile, what a great way to start my Monday morning. Leslie, you sure are the queen of card making, no matter what the occasion is you master it. This is so sweet, I love how you designed your scene to fit the words - just so perfect. And the way you made your rainbow - very clever, I thought it was a rainbow die! Those twirly clouds are so adorable, your eye for detail on the little flowers and dots on the grass and then of course your mouse - and yes I do have a few of cute mouse images from Great Impressions - actually I just came across one of them last week looking for something. Overall card is fabulous! I'm so glad you posted this one today, you have inspired me to stamp - I'm off today, no birding, it has been raining, very heavy at times, freezing rain since Friday, very overcast today with more rain and cold! Yuk! Have a wonderful day Leslie. Enjoy the sunshine while you can.

This card made me so happy when I saw it! Jennifer would love it - she has a tiny blanket since she was a baby that has a little mouse head gathered on the top which she calls mousie and sleeps with every night! Love the rainbow with the glitter. I just purchased SU's Sunshine & Rainbows which is going to be retired just for the rainbows. Haven't tried it yet. Our weather here is terrible with wind/rain so I hope to get into the craft room today. Have a great week!

What a happy little scene with that cute mouse image and that colorful and sparkly rainbow. Oh, yes, we will have to pretend it is just rain and no white stuff!

there you go with all this cuteness, so love it!!! that little mouse is perfect with this so fun sentiment, along with your glitter rainbow :) I like finding sets with sentiments I haven't seen before. Great job on the sky and so like the sprinkling of flowers and nuvo drops throughout the grass! I think I bookmarked a card where the lady used circle dies to make her rainbow, I haven't given it a try yet but if you want me to email the link to you just let me know and I will look for it :) Unless you want and excuse to buy a new die that is ;)

I've had repeated visits to see this adorable card! Isn't it amazing how a rodent can become absolutely the cutest when fashioned from a stamp. I've found myself falling for mice, lol! Especially when they stand in a field of sparkly drops surrounded by a glittered rainbow!
You added just the right touches to make this card super cute and very pretty. I'm glad to know that Tempting Turquoise blends into such a gorgeous sky!
