Blooms Fill In

I'm back again with more new stamps getting inky before they grow moldy oldie.  Today it's my very first Concord and 9th set.  I'll blame this one on Cindy Beach and all the pretty stamping she did with this set.  I bookmarked it immediately and, happily, it wasn't long before I shopped.  Don't you just love receiving those packages of crafty goodies in the mail?

The set is Blooms Fill In.  It's a background stamp with a few sentiments and a whole bunch of flower parts you can use to fill in the blanks.

Clear stamps with a large expanse of solid surface can be tricky, so the right paper and ink makes all the difference.  Cindy had good luck with Distress Oxide inks (which I don't have).  My best results were with Memento ink.  My two favorite papers for solid image stamps are Stampin' Up Whisper White and Copic X-Press It Blending Card.

This is Memento Toffee Crunch on X-Press It Blending Card.  I kept it monotone, using Memento Rich Cocoa for the darker accents.  I stamped an additional partial background, cut out the flower part and layered it with twine and a die cut.

After I made this card (and several more!) I looked at them sitting there on my desk and wondered what is so compelling about this stamp set.  After all, you could easily do this with designer paper, and heaven knows I have plenty of that.  I guess it's just the do-it-yourself aspect of stamping.  Different colors, different degrees of filling in the blooms.  Playing around and seeing what happens.  A stamper gets it.  This set should come with a warning:  Once you start it's hard to stop.

Have a beautiful day!

Stamps:  Concord and 9th Blooms Fill In  Paper:  X-Press It Blending Card, Bazzill tan and dark brown  Ink:  Memento Toffee Crunch, Memento Rich Cocoa  Accessories:  Linen thread, Cottage Cutz Fall Vine

gorgeous! I've wanted this set for ages! I think patterned paper looks less interesting. The stamped version seems to have more depth or maybe I'm just justifying.

WOW, gorgeous card so full of elegance and I love how you have kept it more neutral colors, a beautiful job of stamping that background and I had to click on your link to see the stamp set and now you have enabled me to want it and here I told myself NO more ordering until fall (I need to redo my flower gardens this Spring/Summer) but I might have to rethink no shopping ..hah!!I have 'treated' myself to a few sets I have yet to use and yes it sure is fun getting 'happy mail' and addicting!!

What a beautiful card! I love making my own background. I will have to do it more often. Love the twine with the flower. These colors are among my favorite. So soft and subtle. Have a great week!

thanks for the warning, Leslie! LOL I remember the good old days before designer papers. We stampers LOVED creating our own "designer papers" and customizing everything to suit our needs. I do enjoy doing that, and now that I'm slowing down, I'm actually reverting back to some of the older techniques, such as making my old backgrounds. Your monochromatic theme is gorgeous! I would have enjoyed seeing all your color combinations LOL greedy little soul, am I not? This pretty Toffee color is GORGEOUSLY soothing with splashes of the coffee color. I'm rather foolish - had not considered using the XpressIt with something other than alcohol markers. DUH! Thanks for yet another fantastic tip. It's always a joy seeing what you come up with - your designs are so professionally tailored and lovingly put together! xx

Oh yes, I have seen this stamp set and thought about it but removed from my cart. It's just a bit to pricey with exchange rate right now, but it's in my 'someday' bucket list! Leslie, your card is gorgeous! Love the colours and your complete design. It's the little things like the twine and the rich cocoa fall vine that add the special finishing details. Hmmm.. geez maybe I do need this set after all! Question is: do I have the will power to hold off! Enjoy your day!

Oh, dear Leslie, I am so glad the shoe is on the other foot, and this time it's that I have "enabled" you, lol!
Thanks for sharing the links and your enthusiasm for this set. I think you're right. It is the fun of being able to design backgrounds in any color set you want that makes this so appealing and fun to play with. I love the soft neutrals you chose and I can't wait to see more of them!

Beautiful, I do love the kraft color and white together! That background is so pretty and love the great sentiment that comes in the set and the banner feel of it, the extra flower with the twine is a great touch!

You've got a huge W-O-W from me for this beauty, Leslie! So much so that I went over to C9 and watched the video on this set ... I can definitely see why you were compelled to buy it and I have to say you truly worked magic with it once it arrived in your happy mail! I can see where it would be addictive once you got going!! Hugs, Darnell

I can see why you were drawn to this set - it's gorgeous! And I love the card you made with it. I remember when I first started stamping - it seemed like "cheating" to use patterned paper. :) Now what would we do without it???
