Magical Deer and Tweet Cardinal

Hello and welcome!

Oh, happy day, I have two more cards for the Christmas box!  We'll start off with Spellbinders Magical Deer.  I used it once last year and didn't even realize until this year that I put its antlers on upside down.  How could I do that?  What a goofball!  Hopefully I've redeemed myself this year.

All supplies are listed below, but I will mention the baubles hanging from his antlers.  They are punched silver gloss cardstock coated with Diamond Glaze and hung on a string borrowed from the much older Memory Box Precious Hearts.  I was prompted first by the Christmas Kickstart Challenge in which Jo is asking for baubles this month.  I had my heart set on the deer so I was dragging my feet until I thought if Spellbinders could picture (on the package) the deer with a long tag hanging from his antlers, then surely I could hang some baubles.  I chose silver baubles as a nod to the mood board created by my friends at the Peace On Earth Challenge.  Sending my thanks to both challenges with links and graphics at the end.

Next is another Spellbinders die -- Tweet Cardinal.  I kept this card simple with a ready made frame from my card parts drawer.  Die cut holly accents a corner, and the sentiment banner gives him something to perch on.

I added Diamond Glaze to the holly berries, and you can see the holly leaves are also glossy.  The gloss was achieved by applying clear packing tape to green cardstock before cutting.  I learned the simple and genius packing tape trick from Natalie Bowers at NB Cards who I found during my late night YouTube excursions.

I have to give Natalie a shout out.  She's not selling anything, usually she can't even name the dies she uses as she oftentimes picks them up at a "charity shop".  I love that.  She'll take you step-by-simple step through creating the most beautiful backgrounds, and almost all her cards are ultra-CAS.  She created a Smoosher for smooshing watercolor backgrounds.  Don't knock it till you try it.  It makes smooshing so easy and neat.  She also makes her own glossy dots, which I've been doing for years, but her influence has prompted me to nearly give up purchased dots altogether.  Nearly.  I still have some in my stash, but I no longer buy them.  Most of her videos are only a few minutes long and it's amazing the ideas and inspiration she shares in that amount of time.

So here are the aforementioned challenges, plus NBUS for the Cardinal:

Christmas Kickstart #94 -- Bring the Baubles
Peace On Earth #80  -- See optional mood board
NBUS #70 -- Never before used schtuff.  My NBUS is the Spellbinders Tweet Cardinal.

If you're still with me after all that, then I appreciate your patience.  Have a happy day!

I adore your die-cut cards, Leslie! Aren't they refreshing to make? No clean-up required!
Now, I'm sure I saw that handsome reindeer last year and do not remember anything amiss regarding those antlers - I must be a 'goofball' too!
Such a delightful duo of cards!

Both beautiful cards, love the cute little bird and fabulous die-cut reindeer and the baubles hanging from his antlers-had to change that part of the comment twice as it sounded slightly rude lol.

I have fallen into your goofball category many times with dies, Leslie. No shame, just artistic license! Two fabulous cards for your 2025 stash. Love those pops of bright red!

What a delightful pair of cards, Leslie! The Magical Deer with the silver baubles is so charming, and the Tweet Cardinal is simply adorable. I love the creative touches you've added, like the Diamond Glaze on the holly berries and the glossy leaves.

Two more wonderful cards to add to your Christmas box! Good for you! Love both cards, the magical deer is beautiful, love just the red and white, so elegant with the embossed background, love how you added the sentiment. For the cardinal, well one of my favourite birds. Love how you created this card! We had 3 pairs at our feeders yesterday. Have a wonderful day, thanks for sharing as always!

Beautiful Leslie and I sure do adore that reindeer and his antlers are perfection! We have four deer that have bedded down in the woods between us and the neighbor which is fine but they set off our security lights all night and drive Mack nuts! Thanks so much for joining us at Peace On Earth too!!

I didn't notice anything amiss the last time you used this deer, Leslie, so I probably would have done the same thing. I love seeing him again and it was a great idea to hang a bauble from his antler! Your framed cardinal is so pretty and I love the shiny leaves. Thanks for the tip on how to do them and the link. I'll check her out.

Such beautiful cards! I am always so impressed with how you manage to get so many Xmas cards made. I need to follow your example. The deer looks so handsome all dressed up but I'm partial to the Cardinal. I like the frame and love the diamond glaze as well.

Oh they are both just beautiful, I do love your embossing on the first, and funny I never noticed that antlers were wrong if you posted them before, that is such a pretty deer and I love your idea with the baubles!
You know I love this little cardinal, I just had to have him too. he is so sweet sitting on the sentiment and I like the patterned frame with the pretty holly stem to match.
I will have to check out your link, that was a nice tip for your holly branch!

your deer card stole my heart, he looks wonderful in white and red and that sweet little bird ♥
The video was so helpful, I usually flip my card on my work top and get huge blobs :)

Both cards are wonderful, Leslie! I do adore that white stag with the baubles hanging from his antlers. A brilliant idea to pair those dies together. Looks like they were made to go together. Your cardinal is so pretty too, and what a great idea to use packing tape to add a little shine. I'll be sure to check out Natalie's YT channel.

Two beautiful CAS Christmas cards featuring the most beautiful dies, Leslie. Thanks for the info about Natalie. I will definitely check out her videos when I find my way out of the maze of boxes for moving! :) As always, your cards are inspirational, my friend. xx

Omigosh, Leslie! That reindeer card! Your attention to detail and your addition of tiny detail on your cards just blows my mind! As I've said before, your cards are little works of art. The glossy cardinal card is wonderful; I would never have thought of the use of packing tape...but I just might have to try it. Again, outstanding cards.

Two sweet designs here Leslie - so creative of you to make those lovely glossy baubles and hang them on the reindeers antlers! He's very Nordic looking in the white red - and I love the snowy trees EF you used for your background. Your little cardinal is so sweet with his shiny wing and tail, perched on the sentiment. Your glossy holly and berries are beautiful on the frame! Thanks for joining Jo and me at Christmas Kickstart: Baubles! Julia xx
