Hello and welcome to a new week on the blog! I'm just playing again, still savoring this relatively quiet time in the new year. Christmas is a beautiful season, but it can be a lot of work no matter how simple I try to keep it. Nevermind that... today is a day for daisies and sunshine -- in my craft room, if not outside.
I pulled out my Lisa Horton Tall Daisies 3D embossing folder with die and used it for the first time. I know... how long have I had it? I've lost track. Well, here it is now, embossed, cut, and colored, sitting on a blended background backed up with some 2013 designer paper I'm trying to finish off.
Can't say it's not cheerful! It has a birthday greeting inside. The little bit of coloring was done with inks and stencil brushes. The mini-slimline card was covered edge to edge with my least favorite piece from the paper pad, and then it was left sitting in my card parts drawer for quite a while. It's easier on the eyes with most of it covered. Now I like it.
As for the daisies, they were embossed and die cut, then the inner parts hand cut with a craft knife. Coloring was accomplished and then the daisies were embossed again. Next, I cut and embossed a second set of daisies, but did not hand cut the inner parts. Rather, I brushed with ink to match the background, then layered the first daisies over top and glued to the card. It sounds like a lot and it probably was. I have a gift for making things more complex than they need to be.
I'm happy to add my daisy card to Darnell's NBUS Challenge #70 (never before used schtuff).
Thanks for hanging in there with me! Have a craft-happy day!

Pretty. Perfect for a winter's day and a pick me up. Have a great one.
Daisies, embossing and die-cutting - could there be a better combination!! :-) I think I would skip the hand-cutting with a craft knife, though. LOL! Too complex for this CAS card maker. Your card is wonderful, and the background paper is good, too.
Leslie, this is so fabulous! I LOve that plaid and you've done such a wonderful job of pulling those colors into your daisies - I also love that little trick you've done with the cutting/inking! Definitely not 'a lot' rather just the right amount!

Absolutely beautiful card Leslie, love the beautiful embossed daisies and quite like the p, paper, although maybe as you said because you can't see too much

What a lovely, lovely card Leslie...it totally has me smiling this morning!! Your background dsp may have started out as your least favorite, but you definitely found a good home for it with your gorgeous daisies!! It was a match made in heaven my friend! Hugs. :0)
Absolutely gorgeous! So glad you found time to finally use it. I'm sure that you'll be using it a lot more. I love the colors that you used in your daisies to pick up that pattern paper that you're trying to use up.
I know exactly what you men about making things more complex than necessary. It seems to be a failing of mine too. I love your card, those daisies look amazing and well done for cutting out the inside bit. I think it worked well to cut 2 for the dimension and I am sure adding some ink was easier and quicker than cutting with a blade. Thanks for cheering me up with those cheery daisies. It is very cold wet and dark here xx
I like that you brought the colors of the plaid forward to your daisies! This is a birthday card that's sure to bring a smile, Leslie. It brought one to my face!
What a nice cheerful card! Love the embossed look and the DSP goes so well. It is still snowing here but hopefully won't be too much. I would love to see my daisies popping up! Only 70 some days to Spring!!
A beautiful card and love the background, so serene and peaceful x
Your cheerful daisies are the perfect thing to warm up this cold winter day. I love how you've colored those daisies. Yay for you for using up older papers in your stash too! (especially the least loved). Looks great with these flowers!! Stay warm and crafty my friend.
