His and Hers Birthday Cats

Hello and welcome back!  Just some fun and frivolity today.  I thought I would share the the last of the Penny Black Birthday Critters I colored earlier this month.  It was a treat to pick a stamp set and a pack of paper, then just sit with my Copics and color to match.  Saves some of the decision making.  Not only that, but it helped me finish off a paper pad.

The first looks like a boy card to me.  Maybe it's the colors, maybe the cat?

A close up below shows the glossy balloon and sparkly stars.  The balloon gloss comes from packing tape over cardstock before die cutting.  I love that trick.  I used a Ranger Distress embossing pen and sparkly embossing powder on the stars, baker's twine for the string.  A little apricot ink brushed over the pennants-embossed background.

The next one is actually a gift tag made with Spellbinders Scallop Labels and Tag.  The designer paper is in the die cut Happy Edger (Penny Black).  Other sentiments are Penny Black as well -- Happy Builder and Carefree Wishes.  Ribbon and eyelet (!) from the vast neglected hoard.

I'm rushing off again.  It's been a busy week with all the home and life stuff that's not necessarily a lot of fun, but has to be done.  Our son is coming for a long weekend so I'll be able to slow down and enjoy more then.  See you again soon!

Leslie, I adore your birthday cats! I love all the layers of fun on your 'male cat' card - how have I been making cards for 10+ years and never heard of this glossy-packing-tape trick?? It's fantastic!
I think that tag is so cute it will be tough to find a present that's as cute!

These are both so adorable and well-done, Leslie! I always love all the little extras you add to your cards. And an eyelet. :-) And not an ordinary eyelet, either. LOL. Super.

You know I am a cat person. Love the cards, and what a great idea to use the packing tape to add shine to the balloon. Enjoy the time with your son.

The vast hoard... lol, I totally get that, Leslie! Congrats on using up another paper pad, too. I've still got some Prima 6x6 pads from a decade ago! Your card and tag are so cute and full of thoughtful details, as is your style!

It's been one of those weeks for me too, Leslie. Hopefully we can slow down soon. Your kitties are adorable and such fun! What a great idea to pick out paper and chose the colors to go with them. Maybe I could use more if I did that! You're tempting me again with that happy edger and sentiments! Fortunately I already have some kitties!

Oh my goodness these two are just too cute, excellent coloring as always, like how you dressed up the balloon and gave it a bit of sparkle, like the banner background and how you used the frame!
The tag is too cute and I love that image and sentiment to go with a gift tag, perfection :)
Hope you will enjoy a long weekend with your son and get to slow down a bit and enjoy! You guys continue to be in my prayers, hugs!

Hope you enjoyed your son's visit, and that all is well, Leslie! I'm not sure about the "maleness" of your first card. I would certainly enjoy it! LOL Both cards are adorable. I've been working on my "unfinished" projects, so I can definitely admire that you have finished using a paper pad! Sending lots of hugs, my friend. xx
