Double D Challenge: Birds

Hello my crafting friends!  It's time for another Double D Challenge and this time Darlene is asking for birds.  Have a look at the beautiful inspiration board she put together for us:

Those parrots pulled me straight to my digi box where I had an image from All Dressed Up printed and ready to color.  It sat there for a long time because I was confused as to where the wings are exactly.  I could make myself crazy... so I decided to just color whether accurate or not.  Seems like I've been hyper-critical of myself lately, sigh...  Nevertheless, I like the overall look of the finished card.

Colored with Copics on Neenah white.  The frame is the negative left from cutting mats for Christmas cards last year.  I glued two together and brushed with inks -- light green and blue.  You barely notice the green in this photo, but it's there.  Added some funky flower die cuts to go with the stylized image.  I did have fun with it!

There's a pretty prize up for a random winner.  Creative winners are chosen with great difficulty by the team.  I love birds so I know I'm going to enjoy the gallery for this challenge.

Check out the Double D blog for more info and to see the team's fun and fabulous samples.  I hope you'll have time to play!

I had to come over here to see how you did this one. I love the parrot and how colorful he is. Great job using supplies and digis that you had already done. Mine never come out this good. So they lay in a pile. Maybe you come over to show me how?

OMStars! This is so beautiful! I'd say you colored the wings PERFECTLY!! Love your overall design ... very tropical and gorgeous! Yes, sometimes we can be our own worst critics. Your creations are always amazing (for instance that beautiful Valentine creation I received in the mail ... what a sweet treat ... thanks... it's in with my other LM Originals). Hugs & Happy Day!

Well, isn't your bird beautiful! The colors are gorgeous and the wings looks great. Isn't it nice that you have these goodies all ready to be placed on a card. I had to laugh when I saw tweety bird. Rachel had a big one when she was little and dragged it all over the place and always insisted on bringing it when she came for a sleepover. I'll have to ask her if she still has it!

I really appreciate Follow It and the ability to deliver posts, but why am I always the last to get the notification? So happy to hop over to visit on my own today, Leslie! I would be very upset if I missed this guy!
"Pretty card, pretty card!" is what he's saying, and I agree! You've perfectly colored his wings and given him such a tropical place to perch!
I know just the set I'm going to use! Thanks for the inspiration!

Leslie this is absolutely beautiful and colored to perfection!!! Love how you used your negative die cut too! Nothing ever goes to waste - great concept to have. We love birds too as we have feeders going all year round and marvel at the different birds with the different seasons that keep coming back - I think they forgot to eat bugs since we have been doing this for over 30 years!!!! LOL!!!!

Wow that is so gorgeous, you did a fabulous job of coloring it, and I totally get you, I have had a hard time with some stamps trying to figure out what is what in the stamp, you ended up with an amazing bird. I just love your die cut flowers you added on the sides and that left over from diecutting worked great to frame your image and love your inking of it!!
