Pup and Mog

Hi there!  It took a while, but I finally made it back to the blog after finishing some cards.  I used a NBUS Woodware set called Pup and Mog.  Who can say what attracts any of us to a particular stamp set or to any of the crafty things we buy?  All I know is that these simple open line images made me smile at the time and they still do.

The frolicking Pup was stamped in Versafine black and clear embossed.  I colored with Tombow markers, no water and minimal use of the blender pen.  Pulled a stenciled background and a watercolored frame from my bag o' backgrounds and created the base.  Added Pup and some die cut flowers.  I think he's happy!

I saved the sentiment for the inside because it would crowd the front and I really wanted to say "happy dog day" to one of my doggy loving friends.  National and International Dog Day are both on August 26th.  Okay, so I'm a little ahead but might as well be ready.  Pictured below is the inside:

Mog, the cat, is relaxed and simply wishing a happy day.  It could be for anything, really.  I watercolored this one with SU inks and designed with some super old (2009) BasicGrey papers.  I inked up and stamped the cat's hearts a second time and colored, cut and glued over top to add just a tiny bit of texture.  One small gem for accent.

Editing to add my card to Darnell's NBUS Challenge #34 because my Pup and Mog stamps are fresh out of the package.

I apologize for not listing every detail, but it's probably not necessary.  I will mention that the fun stencil I used on the first card is from a large collection I found on Amazon.

I hope to pop in again soon.  I'm enjoying the time with Rich and Wally and LuLu, keeping options open as to how we spend our time.  I hope the new year is treating you well.  Hugs to all!

OMG, these are just the cutest ever! I can't pick a favorite since I do have a dog and cats and love them equally!! I can see why you had to have these stamps and you have created with them so beautifully, what a fat pup he is, made me laugh and the kitty looks so sweet and innocent. I LOVE both of them!! I am happy to see you found a little time to get creative and also that you get to spend quality time with your loved ones! I hope things have calmed down for you and all is going well! Take care my friend!!

These are both so cute. I love those images and of course, your designs are always top notch. It's so great to be able to sit and craft for a little down time when needed. I know you enjoy your family time a lot with all the family.

Well, Miss Leslie, I'd say that puppy is almost as happy as your goldens! As for the open lines, they don't look so open to me! I could not color in the lines if my life depended on it! LOL But I also know your spectacular shading techniques are what bring open images to life. It's both a skill and an imaginative revelation of what an image CAN look like with a little color depth. I also enjoy your double stitched frame in the background of the romping pup. I LOVE THAT DESIGN IDEA! Your playful inky backgrounds were probably as fun to create as they are for this puppy. Alas, it is the heartfelt kitty I dear love! The colors, the papers, the layers, everything! I DO miss having a kitty around these days, but this green-eyed sweetie has cheered me immeasurably! Enjoyed our conversation the other day, dear friend. So lucky to know you. xx

Talk about jumping for joy! That dog is definitely happy, Leslie, and your coloring and background and frame make for one of your awesome designs! And the cat! Oh, my! If that cat didn't eat the canary, then I'll eat my hat!! Delightful! (And thank you for linking to the NBUS gallery if you want!) Hugs, Darnell

Well, aren't these cards the cutest thing! They are so bright and cheerful. Love the colors! Joe is plowing the driveway which has a mixture of snow and water which will freeze up soon! Fortunately, we didn't get what they forecasted. Thinking of you all - take care!

Such two amazing and fun cards! Gotta say, as I have a Golden fur-baby, I'm partial to the doggie card. LOL! Speaking of doggies, your Lulu and Wally are absolutely adorable!

Awww that are just too cute, love your coloring of them, I like the stenciled background with the frame and your cute flowers to match those on him.
Now I think the cat is my favorite :) Like his green eyes, we think that is what our Buttons color of eyes will be and love the hearts with him.
Hope all is well with Wally I forgot to ask how he was doing, I hope better. I am sure you are taking in every moment.

Lovely to see you posting, I am so glad you found some time and that you are just taking things slow. Your cards are really fun and happy and I love that stencilled background on the first one. Unused background folders can come in handy sometimes and it is nice to use something from it xx

You had me at Pup and Mog is as cute as can be too! The images appeal to me as well - they seem to show distinct personalities! I love that you have backgrounds and frames all-ready-to-go. That sure helps! I love the hearts and flowers elements too.

These are so adorable, Leslie! I especially love the cat - sorry! :-) I like that you have some really old supplies. I know that you have purged a lot, and yet you have old stuff. I have hardly gotten rid of anything at all - and it's been nearly 20 years! LOL. The stenciled background is great, too. I'm glad you are having nice times with Rich and Wally and Lulu. We are pretty much back to staying home - going nowhere - zooming with people.

Gosh, these cuties sure do make me smile…love how you coordinated them with the papers. The puppy in the frame is very creative and I’m going to have to try that! Between us and our two daughters, we have 5 dogs…an English Cream Golden, (Beulah ,)Bernese Mountin Dog, (Walter) a Great Pyrenees and Bernese mix, (Sulley,) and a Rescue Pit Bull mix, (Josie!!) I need dog stamps and should look into some of the cute ones you feature here. Have a blessed day!

So glad you posted again, I really miss your posts. Glad you are enjoying your time with Rich, Wally & Lulu. Keep well Leslie, hugs,
