Halloween in July

Hey, if we can have Christmas in July, why not Halloween?  The Two Old Bats and team think it's a great idea and so we present our July inspiration board:

You're not required to use the board, but I love that aspect of the challenge.  You'd think I'd do something with the adorable Golden Retriever, wouldn't you?  Well, as much as I love to look at that sweet image, I went with the wreath and crow instead.

I used a Cheery Lynn wreath in three layers -- black on the bottom, dark brown in the middle layer, then a lighter brown on top.  The top wreath layer is actually vanilla cardstock sponged with brown ink.  I turned each layer ever so slightly to add some twiggy fullness.  I embossed the circle behind the wreath, die cut the sentiment in orange glitter paper then layered over black.  The card is decorated with ages old Halloween paper, and the card base is SU's Tangerine Tango embossed with the Subtle 3D folder.

That's all from me, but have a look at the rest of the team's cards on the Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge blog.  Fun stuff!

Have a happy day!

Paper:  SU Tangerine Tango, black, brown, vanilla, BasicGrey Eerie designer paper  Other:  Cheery Lynn Happy Halloween Twiggy Wreath, SU Subtle 3D embossing folder, Darice Fall Leaves Swirl embossing folder, Spellbinders circle die to cut vanilla behind wreath, Spellbinders Scored and Pierced Rectangles to cut DP layer

I do love a cute Halloween card! Yours is adorable and I love the way you did the wreath! So many pretty papers and the embossing in the center is to die for. When my grandson got old enough that he no longer did the trick or treat thing I stopped making Halloween cards. I do love seeing yours and you make me want to start again!

Fabulous Halloween card without being 'spooked out' , pretty cool idea to give the wreath more fullness, will have to remember that idea, it's a good one! I have the same ages old Halloween paper lol!!

Wonderful card Leslie! I don't make very many Halloween cards anymore, but I love seeing what you create. Create idea for the wreath, gives fullness and dimension! Papers are perfect, and yes I believe I do have some of the exact, ages old indeed! Overall love this, especially that little strip of paper over the black, it just finishes this off perfectly! Well today, it feels freezing cold compared to the heat wave we have been having. It was only 52 when I stepped outside around 7:30 ish, compared to high eighties the past few days. But...heat is coming back tomorrow, so best enjoy this cooler day today. Glad you are doing well and keeping comfortable with the heat. So nice to see your card today Leslie! Enjoy your day!

Love the layering on the wreath and the embossing behind is a neat touch, the paper may be old but it worked great here!
I was kind of surprised you didn't use a picture of Wally or Lulu here.
