Birds and Blooms

I'm on a roll and I hope you can put up with me for a while.  With fall approaching and the need to double down on Christmas cards I decided to go the opposite direction.  Well, gee, I have so many summery stamps and digis not yet used... so I sorted through all of them and picked out the ones I'd really like to finish up while the weather is still fair.  Ha!  As if that's going to happen.  I filled a box with my fair weather coloring and die cutting aspirations.

Getting started... today is a digi set from the out of business Sparkle 'n Sprinkle.  It's called Feathered Friends.  I had these two images from the set printed up, but never colored so today is their day.  It's a very cute set and I think you can see why I just had to purchase it.

Anything with birds grabs my attention and my heart, especially if they're whimsical and easy to color.  I did these birds with Copics.  I somehow managed to get an ink blob on the white panel and that changed my design plan to the extent that I added the little flowers and the feather.  Initially I'd planned to simply tie a length of linen thread across.

The flowers below are watercolored with Gansai Tambi paints on Arches 140 lb hot press watercolor paper.  Again, very simple coloring.  I hand cut them so I could play around with the placement.  Sentiment is SU, probably retired.

I have a few different paper collections I've been trying to use up, not because I don't like them, but because they're close to being gone and maybe if I stay focused... we'll see how it goes.  These are Chatterbox papers.  Are they still in business?  They had the prettiest designer papers.  I might not have chosen these particular papers for my bird and flower cards, but I like how it all turned out.

Wishing you a wonderful week, whichever way you spend it.  Hugs and happiness to all!

Both cards are so darn cute, I have this set in rubber, gosh I lost all my SNS digi's when my last computer died and I had a ton of them. Love how you have designed each card with the pretty papers, don't think I have ever heard of them. The feather was perfect for a great save! I think those flowers are so pretty too!! I have purchased a lot of 'summer' stamps and dies I have yet been able to use but decided I am going to use all year long if I can, we'll see!!

Ahh!! those ink blobs or finger prints or smudges on your pristine panel, been there, done that too, my friend.
But you totally managed to fix it in such a way that it looks like the "fixings" were meant to be there.
Super sweet pair of beautiful, fresh and colorful cards, love those little birds perched on the branch chatting away.
Your flower card is gorgeous, with some very impressive fussy cutting, love it!!!
Thank you for sharing.
Stay healthy and safe.

Both cards are so cute! I'm glad that you made a smudge and had to fix it because the extra feather and flowers really look great! Some added texture. I like the Chatterbox paper that you used. I don't think I ever got any from them although I have a whole little drawer full of Basic Gray that I love.

I love when blogger share their fixes. We all have stuff happen and after time is spent of something...I sure don't want to start over so I really appreciate that others share their "opportunities for embellishing".

These images are so darned cute Leslie and your coloring is fabulous. I to love your design choices adding papers to your panels. So pretty.

They are both beautiful, I love the way you colored the birds and the great save you had with using the flowers and the feather which ties in perfectly with the birds :) Like the little splattering and light blue in the background, those are great papers and I know how it feels good to finally use all those little pieces you have leftover from making other cards. Pretty scallops and like how you have sewn it all together!
Pretty soft coloring of your flowers too and I love the font on that sentiment to go with the whimsy flowers and the tab you added with the plaid paper is a great touch!

They are lovely cards. I really like how you used your little "mishap" to add the flowers/feather on the first card, so clever and cute. Love the coloring on your second card. Now I need to start using up some of my old paper etc...

I am so with you in wanting to use my line up of summer images. You're right, it may not happen, but we sure can try!
And how I love the cards. Easy, fun, unique and BIRDS! What's not to love? The ink blob? Nope, The feather makes it fabulous! SO does your coloring and the pretty papers. Way to go!

Such pretty flowers and such super-cute little birdies! Way to use up your paper. Good luck on finishing it all up! I think I once used up a pad, and no other is probably more than 10% gone! LOL!

Oh my, I love both of these, so whimsical and fun! Those birds are just the cutest! Good cover up with the smudge, one would never know! Chatterbox papers you say -- well I still have some of those papers, kind of forgot about it. They used to have some really pretty papers, too bad there still not in business(not that I need more papers.. geesh!!) Beautifully created, they make me smile! Sorry for late posting another busy week at work, but now I'm off for 4 days! I'm hoping to get some stamping done.
