Sunshine on a Rainy Day

Hello to you and thanks for dropping in!  Today's card suggests a clear blue sky in the middle of a rainy day.  You know how it can be sunny and raining at the same time?  Spring is a lot like that and sometimes Life is, too.

I'm playing along with Double D's Showers and Flowers challenge.  I've combined my not-yet-used Laurel Burch Umbrella Cats (Stampendous) with several older goodies from my stamp room stash.

It was also a coloring experiment.  I tried Copics on Cryogen ivory.  I did not have such a great experience and will not recommend it.  However, I'm going to try pencils next and I'll let you know.  I'd rather use white paper, but only have the ivory.  The card turned out cute, though!

Old, but still loved:  The rain stamp is a very old wood block from a company no longer in business.  I stamped repeatedly to cover the card base.  The blue circle was embossed with my first ever embossing folder on a piece of  Core'dinations cardstock, discontinued by Stampin' Up.  I sanded the embossed circle to bring out the pattern.  See how the flowers are similar to those in the umbrella?    A strip of super old SU designer paper was added for the cats to sit on, and the green strip with cats was popped up.

This was not a quick card, but definitely a fun card to make as it involved quite a bit of play.  That same SU designer paper provided all I needed for the inside.

The sentiment is apropos of our times, but I did not choose this set for that reason.  It just worked out that way.  It's very true, though, isn't it?  If you're sharing your umbrella with someone I sure hope it's someone you love.

Double D Challenge:  Showers and Flowers

Have a beautiful day!

A perfect image for this challenge as is the sentiment so fitting for our times right now. Leslie, I know how much you love these Laurel Burch stamps and I'm always in awe of how you colour them and colour choices. Beautiful as always. Love all the details with with embossed circle, background rain, and the strip of paper for grass for the cats! You have a great eye for detail and it shows in this. Wish you a wonderful day, and loved seeing your card today! Take care,

What a super cute and fun image this is, and whoaza what a lot of pretty coloring too!! Doesn't it feel good to use some of our older things, let alone NBUS. I like the pretty Spring colors. I once had an umbrella with raining cats and dogs on it but left it hooked to a cart at Walmart, never to be seen again, and it had been special ordered too, of course no one turned it in. Yes, these are very 'different' times for sure, and I have been struggling with it all this pass week terribly!! Take care and enjoy those beautiful gardens of yours!

Again you've beautifully combined old and new and come up with a fabulous card! I love the way you've colored the cats and the umbrella they share! I have that same embossing folder but almost never use them anymore. It looks fresh and fun behind those cool cats. The sentiment is perfect. Hugs~

The vivid colors are such a welcome sight! I find myself saying the same thing every time...one would never know that I taught Language Arts for more than 30 years! My vocabulary is so limited. However, you have crafted such a darling card with a beautiful mix of elements.

Your card is adorable. Liked seeing how you colored the Laurel Burch cats as I have some of her cat stamps and am never pleased with how I color them. You did a great job on the cats. I like the backgrounds you used, both embossing and DSP. Like the image of cats with an umbrella and love the sentiment.

This creation of yours is so fun and colorful, you just can't help but smile and take it all in. Love how you colored the umbrella as fun as the cats, that is the only way it should be!!
I do so love that sentiment with it too and how you put them in opposite corners. Love how you mixed your old supplies together to give a fresh clean look to this great card!

What a nice image and great colors! I like the background stamp of raindrops. Your cats look happy to be sharing the umbrella! Isn't it amazing how embossing help make the card. I don't have a lot but enjoy using them when I can. Have a great weekend! The kids are cleaning up the camper. I hope they get to use it this summer.
