Ultimate Poinsettia

Hello, and good Monday to you!  On Friday I mentioned I would have a flower card today.  Well... that's because I have a new digital stamp from Power Poppy.  You know they're my weakness, and I'm thrilled no end to have the opportunity to help introduce Ultimate Poinsettia.

I should mention right off that I painted this with Twinkling H2Os, which may explain the somewhat grainy appearance.  The shimmer is hard to photograph, but looks pretty great in real life.  I was thinking I could make it look like an artificial arrangement.  Hmmm...

Pictured below is the set as it comes.  It includes a no-line (or light line) image so you don't have to fool around with any fancy stuff when you print it.

Here's the scoop from Marcella:

"One of our most popular holiday clear stamps is now available as a resizable digital download. Straight from the set "Winter Wonderland" without any alterations, we have the gorgeous floral spray that will bring a splash of decadence to your holiday cards! A Poinsettia is surrounded by frilly Anemones, Dusty Miller leaves, and Pepperberries. Of course we want you to color these plants in any way that brings you delight. But if you’re a purest, there are the inspirations behind my drawing! A new sentiment that you can color in joins the floral display."

So... if you read Marcella's description you know what she had in mind when she created this arrangement.  I have the Winter Wonderland clear set and I can see now I was way off the mark when I colored it!  I thought those were Hellebores and oak leaves, and I had no idea what the berries were.  Nevertheless, that first attempt turned out very pretty and so will yours when you color the Ultimate Poinsettia any which way you choose.

The final picture shows that the poinsettia is actually more gold than green.  I did add a little bit of green and red when I painted it.  Twinks aren't the easiest medium, but I'd like to make a point of using them more often... until I run out, that is.  I don't think they're even manufactured any longer.  More's the pity because I'm just now learning to love them.

I'll direct you to the following links so you can see more Ultimate Poinsettia creations:

Well, that's it!  I hope you enjoyed.  I'll see you again when stamping happens.  Have a happy day!

Leslie, I am lost for words - this is absolutely stunning! The colours and layers you reached using the H2O's is beautiful. I guess I haven't used my H2O's enough! Love the earthy tones, I would of never thought of this colour combo but I love it! The copper shimmer paper for your base just makes your image pop! Wow, I keep staring at your card. Thanks for sharing a beautiful masterpiece today, great way to start my day - be still my heart! Have a wonderful day Leslie - so glad you are back on PP design team. :)

If anyone can do justice to Marcella's gorgeous drawings, it's you! Wow!!! This is gorgeous! I have twinkling H2O's but never think of using them on flowers! Mine usually get pulled out to do fish! I'm just stunned at the beauty you created with them! And I'm in love with this set! May have to break down and add it to my collection. Awesome inspiration, Leslie!!

OMG Leslie, you should frame this, what a beautiful Christmas spray. I bet it really sparkles IRL with the twinkling H20"s :)

Leslie...this is so soft and stunning! In non traditional colors, but copper is one of my favorites!! How you managed this with the Twinkle H2O’s is a mystery.
Marcy’s floral spray is a work of art which you’ve brought to life! Have a blessed day!

Beautiful. Love the enlarged image. At first I thought you colored with colored pencils. Haven't use my H2o's in ages. They take too long to reconstitute before I can use them and then I have to wait for the paint container to dry before putting it away. Sigh. I have enough of them to last till I die... I remember replenishing my stock when they thought they were going out of business...
Have a great day

Your card is utterly amazing, Leslie! (I was going to stay "stunning" but I see that someone beat me to it! :) ) I love the colors you used, no matter if they are "realistic" or not!

I love H2O's and your image is just beautiful! Very soft, realistic and with non-traditional colors. And the best part - another Xmas card! You are way ahead of me. This weekend I have been working on "turkeys"! Joe is now calling me the turkey lady! LOL!

I do love the way she lets you know what kind of flowers they are for us that don't know them if we want to look them up and see how they are supposed to be colored.
You did a fantastic job of bringing this digi to life, I love the way you colored it all, you do so wonderful with any medium, I really need to break out my H2o's and use them, although my coloring wouldn't even come close to your gorgeous work!!

Well now isn't this just lovely! Your coloring makes this a very useful set as you have shown how to make it a beautiful Fall card and of course traditional colors could then put it over the top as a Christmas card! I do have a few H20's but never really learned to use them. I think you just might have inspired me!

Oh my gosh Leslie!! what a stunningly gorgeous card!!! The image is beautiful, I love how Marcy places different elements on her images and you just created a masterpiece with this one.
Beautiful coloring and your design lets the Poinsettia take center stage, and I see the shimmer on the second picture, just beautiful.
Thank you for sharing.

You know, Leslie, If I thought I could do justice to Marcella's fabulous drawings I would but every one of them! I checked this digital out recently but now you have brought it to life! You make it look so easy and no matter what you use to color with, your results are out of this world! I too love the non traditional look of the arrangement and think your color choices are so beautiful.

Leslie....another excellent example of your fabulous coloring. I haven't used Twinks in awhile and I have more than 100. When I purged, I kept them. ;-) Although I'm not familiar with many oak trees, I would have thought those were oak leaves, too. And your choice of colors works beautifully.

GORGEOUS! Your coloring always astounds me!! Such a beautiful card Leslie! LOVE it!!

It's so interesting to see through the links all the different ways that beautiful spray was colored, but I do love your way best, Leslie, and I'm not just saying that. I love that you've given it a unique color scheme that would be gorgeous on my coffee table right now! And with twinks! I took mine out from the bottom shelf of the bookcase about five months ago when a friend came by and showed me how to wc with them and, sadly that was it. Just last week I finally put them back. Now I'm going to take them out again!! I've got every color I think and it's such a darn shame not to use them, so thank you for re-inspiring me! ❤Hugs, Darnell

Oh I'm so glad I have some quiet time this morning to read, look, and write to you. Vance is playing golf this morning, but was kind enough to make coffee before he left. I'm in bed with a terrible cold. Trying to get better before leaving for Thanksgiving.

Leslie, this card is absolutely stunning! I love the autumn color palette you've used, and the shimmer casts a dewy look I think. It also looks like you used a copper card stock for the card base - yes? What a fabulous choice. And if I didn't know you had used the Twinkling H20s I would have thought you had used pencil on this - your coloring is amazing! This is a huge WOW!

Hugs,
Susie ~

Leslie, I LOVE this color palette and love how you've achieved so much depth especially with the leaves and the berries. You know how much Marcy loves to see us put on our "wings" and color whatever we want, and I love this non-traditional poinsettia with the gold hues. Here in South Florida, we see poinsettias sprayed all sorts of colors, so this would definitely be loved here! I love it, and love how you've colored the sentiment! It's GORGEOUS, sweet friend and I know you -- you're going to do this again. I have H2O's as well and should use them, and now someone else is still manufacturing them. So that's wonderful news, since they really are amazing. Stunning card, as always, my friend! You can see all the comments and realize that it's another stunner!! Hugs and love! xoxo

I am so far behind in commenting, that I have to pick out my favorites. (Almost impossible on this blog) This may not be the first one I commented on, but it is at the top of the list. I love how you colored the image and I will not ever see it colored so beautifully than this.
