Introducing Snowdrops and Tea Roses

There's a delightful new digital stamp set release at Power Poppy today.  It's called Snowdrops and Tea Roses and, ohhhh, how pretty it is!  I printed the no-line version not too large so I could color the whole dainty, delicate, lovely thing.

Marcella's notes:

"The first in a series of bouquets nestled inside vintage French café au lait bowls. Festive enough for Christmas cards; cozy enough for a winter’s afternoon coloring session. This scene features a trio of hybrid tea roses arranged with crisp white snowdrops and variegated holly. Be open and adventurous with your coloring, ie: berries can be white/pink/light green if you are using red roses. Holly doesn't always have to be red. Remember, we are making the picture, nature is just one of our inspirations.

Digital download includes a no line version, and two merry sentiments.

A few tea rose varieties to use as inspirations to make this bouquet especially festive: 'Bewitched' (pale pink), 'Neil Diamond' (red-and-white streaked), 'Cinnamon Dolce' (dark red with pink streaks), 'Gemini' (creamy center with coral pink edges), 'World War II Memorial Rose' (light pink with tinges of red)."

I used Prismacolor pencils for today's card, and not my usual way of blending with odorless mineral spirits.  Rather, I blended one pencil into another, coloring over and over.  I do love the control and detail with pencils.  Fun for a change!  The background was done with Copic markers.

I cropped one of the sentiments and tucked it up close, then framed and finished.  One more done for Christmas!

Please visit the Power Poppy blog for more from Marcella and a link list to all the Instant Gardeners' gorgeous creations with Snowdrops and Tea Roses.  Thanks much for your visit.  Hugs and happy day!

AND, I love, love snowdrops and mixing them in with the Roses is genius!! I just bought a tiny little vase of snowdrops last week on my shopping spree, fake of course, but they look so real, real enough to make me happy!! Someday I just want to come and watch you color with all your various elements as I am sure I could learn a lot!!

One word sums this one up - STUNNING! Leslie your prismacolour pencil colouring is beautiful- lots of shading, highlights and depth! All this surrounded inside the beautiful frame. And of course the delightful christmas paper in behind. I haven't used my new Mintay paper yet, it's so pretty I just don't want to use it - lol - I know I have an illness when it comes to papers a real hoarder! Love the way you did the background with the copics, and the little bow to finish off. Leslie, I'm so glad you shared today, this just made my day. I'm off now until Monday, hopefully some major card making happens. Enjoy the rest of your week. Hugs,

Oh my goodness, Leslie, this is my absolute favorite of your floral cards. Stunning! The layers of pencil coloring - I never would have guessed. Just a gorgeous image that you highlighted with such skill. LOVE the soft color choices and everything else about it! The bright white die framing the masterpiece and the pretty paper behind - all add the lovely unique details of your style.

Talk about the Warm-and-Cozies! Immediately, I could smell the fresh pine of your background tree and the lovely scent of roses greeting me! Such a way with color you have, Miss Leslie. To think these were done with colored pencils in such tiny nooks and crannies, is nothing less than mind boggling to me! LOVE IT! I especially love the tiny highlights in each berry, and the warm of little shadows in the snow drops. An exquisite design! hugs, de

You did this with pencils??? Amazing... but that's what I've come to expect of your coloring, no matter what medium you use. As usual, the card is layered with wonderful details. (I'm determined to catch up with your posts today.)

Thud!!! Down right gorgeous. Leslie the no line coloring is fantastic but you brought this to life with the way you colored. The framing is perfect, love the way you created it to look like you are looking into a window from outside. Just gorgeous!
