Flowers and Fronds

Hello friends!

I made a mostly green card for two challenges today.  This one was quick seeing as how the SSS Feathery Fronds background was already embossed and brushed with green ink.  I'd accidently smudged a spot on the very edge of the card and that's how the sentiment flag came to be there.  With that simple design being my basic layout it needed some flowers against the fronds, and a birthday sentiment for Seize the Birthday, and I found both, plus the butterfly, in my SSS Butterfly Blooms stamp set.  It's only been in the not-yet-used basket for about a year, I believe.  It's still there because I won't put it away until I've used every flower and butterfly.

Say it with me now, "What was I waiting for?!"  The flowers in this stamp set are all so pretty and very easy to color.  I did this with a few simple strokes of Tombow markers, not aiming for perfection, but a loose and simple look.  The flowers and butterfly are hand cut.

As for the challenges:

  1. I cannot resist the Triple B Challenge -- Birds, blooms, butterflies.  They always have such a beautiful inspiration board.
  2. Seize the Birthday is asking to see green as your main color.  Optional anything goes.
  3. Of course, I have to share in Darnell's NBUS Challenge #84 again.  My never before used schtuff today is the Simon Says Stamp Feathery Fronds 3D embossing folder (brand new) and the Butterfly Blooms stamp set.

That's all for today!  I'm glad you dropped in.  Take care and have a perfect day!

Stamps:  SSS Butterfly Blooms  Paper:  Fabriano Artistico Extra White 140 lb watercolor, Hammermill Premium 100 lb white, green Bazzill  Ink:  Ranger Archival Jet Black, Stampin' Up Certainly Celery  Coloring:  Tombow markers  Other:  Sue Wilson Pierced Flags, Simon Says Stamp Feather Fronds 3D embossing folder, Scotch brand foam mounting tape

What a great save on this background Leslie! With the addition of all the blooms, it looks like you intended the card to be designed like this right from the beginning! Love the addition of the butterflies too! And the shades of green you used are perfect too! Lovely, lovely card my friend and now I want Spring to be here even more...snowing, COLD & windy here...I'm so over it!! Hugs and hope it's nicer in your neck of the woods my friend!! :0)

Well my friend, you seem to put together the most interesting and beautiful cards with things and products already made or laying in your Not Used Box. How do you do that? This is so fresh with the fronds and the added flowers. It is amazing and we at Seize the Birthday Challenge love seeing you here.

Love the EB folder, like the fronds are blowing in the wind and the flower/butterfly stamp set is surely a pretty one, what a pretty card with the different elements. I too am so guilty of having my 'new' things sit for a year or more, what is wrong with us LOL!! I did pull out a couple 'new' things for today and Thursday, and am loving them both!!
Thank you for joining our challenge at Triple B!

What a perfect green card for today! Happy St. Patrick's Day!! Love this set especially the fronds. I always seem to smudge something on my cards so it's nice to have a few tricks ready to help cover them up!

One would never know there was anything but perfection on your card, Leslie! You are a very talented 'swiper' - mine would have many 'smudges!' A gorgeous 'new' floral and flutterby set - I look forward to your next-times!

Such pretty stamping, your flower and butterfly are both colored so pretty and the fronds make such a lovely background, good save with the sentiment banner :)

Leslie, this is so delicate and beautiful. Those fronds are amazing. Speaking of amazing, palm fronds withstand hurricanes incredibly, while much more unyielding branches in oak trees will become victim to the winds. So even though they look so delicate and lovely on your sweet card, palm fronds are actually very strong. Just like you. Beautiful and strong. Love this card! xx

I am always quite inspired by your "not yet used" basket method. I've meant to start that, but then the desk looks messy so I file away the new goodies, and well, if they come out to play, they come out to play. If not, I know I've got some fun things waiting for me if I think of them. LOL Love this butterfly beauty!

Beautiful card, Leslie! I think your smudge turned out to be a blessing for it caused you to use your NBUS things and made a beautiful card that more beautiful! It's just perfect! Thanks for sharing with us at Seize The Birthday.
