Hi friends! Here I am again with my third guest appearance with Just Us Girls. This week they have a fun mood board for our inspiration. I love a mood board! How about you?
Here's a bigger look at the inspiration:
When you look at my card you may wonder where the inspiration is. Honestly, I was thinking of the mug and the stars. Somewhere along the line I forgot this Santa is a mug (see the handle?) and I made his hat red and even added a pom pom which I thought Spellbinders must have forgotten. It wasn't until the card was done and photographed and up on the blog that I realized where I went wrong. I suppose we can pretend you remove his hat to sip the cocoa, sheesh.
He's still cute, though. The die set is Spellbinders Cocoa Greetings, and it includes the makings for a penguin and a reindeer mug. I'll have better luck with those and you'll be seeing them shortly.
The card base was pulled from my stash of made-ahead card bases. This one was complete with the embossed panel and all I had to do was add the peppermint stripe paper to make it ready for my focal panel. A closer look below... you can picture in your mind's eye the much greater degree of sparkle than the camera picked up.
That's all for today! Come along to Just Us Girls and be inspired by the fabulous team cards, and then show us yours. You all amaze me with your ideas!
Have a happy day!

Leslie... just adorable! Someone will love this card when they receive it. We are so blessed to have your talents with us this month.
Your card is a delightful take on the Mood Board, Leslie! I love the ay you used Santa and surrounded him with such yummy goodness. And oh my, LOVE those copper glitter stars!
Ok after you laid out your concept I could see it. I laughed about removing the hat to drink. I’m still chuckling… have a great day
Adorable card Leslie. It's an interactive card with having to remove his hat to sip the hot cocoa. :) xx
Thanks for explaining why you had an issue. I don't think it matters at all. I love your card and cute little die cut Santa mug. Love the sparkle too xx
Super fun Santa mug! He is a cutie
He is a pretty cool Santa, my sister collects Santa mugs, she would love this, love all his texture in his hat, beard and the glittery stars and hat trim, an adorably cute card and congrats on your Guest Design spot!!
Oh I don't think you went wrong all, Leslie! This is a darling card. The mug, the stars, the Christmas spirit... it's all there! That embossing in the background even reminds me of cookies!
Hi, Leslie! Mood boards are always fun, and surprising... I say surprising because the flavor of the mood board is what touches the artist's heart. Immediately, I could feel the cinnamon theme in the color of the stars, the sparkle is the steam of the beverage, Santa's red is decorative, just like the ornaments! Your white background is somewhat geometric, just as the rectangular planks in the mood boards background are geometric. Mood Boards inspire in the most novel of ways. Sometimes I feel the need to "explain" my own interpretations, but realize that what touches one's heart many be completely different in what inspires another person's heart. But then, I always see the deeper parts of cards when it comes to mood boards, and have to edit what I might say so that others won't think I'm actually wackier than I appear to be on the surface! LOL Ii especially like that your Santa mug is the "star" of the show, portraying the warmth of the beverage! You have such cute die sets, and always bring them to life in the sweetest of ways! I hope things are going well for you and Rich. We are adjusting to our "new" limitations and lifestyle. I'm so grateful to be journeying this path with my best friend who is the dearest of people! Sending hugs, de
I definitely see the inspiration Leslie, and the Santa hat just keeps the hot cocoa warm while you're busy doing other things! He is totally a sweetie and looks fabulous surrounded by your embossed background, the candy cane stripe dsp, and of course those beautiful sparkly stars! Sweet, sweet card my friend...LOVE it!! Hugs. :0)
So cute. It seems perfect for the challenge.
Leslie, you didn't miss a thing! I had no problem spotting the handle - btw I have the Santa cup my mom made me in a ceramics class she took when I was 4 years old! You've added your fabulous touch of magic to your rendition of that mood board, and I couldn't love it more! gah! he's SO cute!
=]
so fun, I love all the dimension on the Santa cup, and those glitter stars are so cool with it, cute sentiment too, neat touch with the peppermint strip to go along the embossed edge!
Christmas card perfection Leslie! I totally see the inspiration you took from the moodboard. Happy to have you and hope you are enjoying your guest spot!
SOOOO CUTE Leslie! He's perfect just the way you made him!
I wouldn't be surprised if someone came up with red whipped cream for a hot chocolate or cappuccino topping, Leslie! What a cute mug and I love those sparkly stars! Thanks for the inspiration!
Exquisite creation and design, lovely colours too xx
I can easily see the mood board in your card Leslie. That is one cute Santa for sure.
Oh my Santa stars, this is adorable! I've had my eye on these mugs for a while now. They're even still sitting in my cart at SB. I'm trying so hard to to push the "order" button, as it's not the season to be treating myself. You're making this task quite difficult. ;0) I think this much is just as sweet as can be. I would love to have a whole set of mugs that look like all the characters in this set. Congrats on your guest design spot. You are totally deserving of such a spot!
This is such a darling card! Love the Santa mug with the stripped paper and the embossing. Combined all together with the sparkly stars make is a sure winner!
Love your cute Santa. Great background and bling.
Such a super cute Santa and he's spectacular on your ready made background. I love the addition of the sparkling stars and I think Santa has a smirk. Am I right?
There's something 'wrong' with your card? Pshaw to that! Your Santa mug is delightful, as are the other delightful elements that accompany him. I totally see your mood board inspired choices. Love your card! Again, so wonderful to have you as our guest designer!
