Hello everyone! One last card for the week and, yes, I've used the Simon Says Stamp Ocean Horizons die again. This time it's a moonlit sky for a Christmas card. Ink blended and splattered with water, it made the ideal background for this sweet stamp from the Penny Black Christmas Cubs set. I loved every stamp in the PB Christmas release, but with unprecedented reserve I chose just one for now.
I colored with Copics and hand cut the images.
Dreaming up a quicker process... I cut the die from 80 lb Neenah card stock and the pieces stayed in the die as I'd hoped. I next applied strips of 1 1/2" wide Scor-tape (or sookwang tape) to the back of the die, pressing it firmly onto all the cardstock pieces. I was then able to pull the overlapping tape tabs to carefully lift the cut pieces out as a whole. I brushed on the inks, removed the backing and applied the panel to my card front. Very quick!
I added sparkle to the snow. Maybe you can see it a little bit in the picture below.
While I was at it I naturally had to color the second image in the set. This time I stamped and colored directly onto the paper. Brushed inks onto the background and cut some snowflakes from Penny Black's Crystal Frames. The sentiment is a much older Penny Black birthday sentiment, Wrap a Hug, which I thought it was pretty cute with the image. 💛 There's a Christmas sentiment inside.

Oh my stars Leslie, cut it out!!! These both are over the top, adorable. That giant polar bear looks like he's just too cuddly to pass by. I've loved seeing the different ways you've used that background die. Each one is just perfect for the given scene. The little gift giver is just as sweet as can be. You are knocking these out of the park!
Two really cute cards. I like those images. Have a great day
These are both amazingly awesome, Leslie!! I especially love that first one - so adorable and wonderfully colored. The background is spectacular!
These are just darling cards. Love all the sweet details you add to make them extra special.
how do you wrap a hug? You tuck it inside a beautifully made Christmas card like yours, that's how! Leslie, you were destined to have this set and have really made it shine with your gorgeous starlit sky and reverse die cut snowflakes! Both so sweet!

These are both so, so cute. I love the hug one the most, but love the other one two. You always find the best images and dies.
My wish list is getting longer and then some from your lovely posts this week, Leslie! You have WOWed me with your creative use of the SSS die and the moon background is delightful! I absolutely love the polar cubs, your cards are so beautiful! I love seeing what you create.
I absolutely love these adorable penny black images. I love all the detail that you’ve added to this and created two spectacular cards. Yes I can see the sparkly snow nice detail. You make such amazing cards. It’s hard to realize that you have supplies that you’ve never used before. Keep them coming.
You have mastered this background, Leslie! They get better and better! And these polar bear images are adorable! I love the shades of blue and pink you've used on the first card and the Christmas colors on the second work just as well! These are two of the most adorable Christmas cards that I've seen!
I keep going back and forth on buying this set and you might have just pushed me over the edge! Gosh are these ever cute and your coloring is wonderful. Thanks for the smiles, Leslie!
they are just precious, Awesome job once again with that background, I think this one is my favorite Awesome night sky and glow of the moon, i do see the sparkle :)
Love the sweet hug in the second too, great coloring on both!
YOu are making magic with that die, Leslie. This might just be my favorite. Great night sky. Your second snowflake card is sweet as well.
Your cards are adorable! You are definitely getting a lot of use from your die. Cards with interaction between kids and animals are so cute. Like how you did the sparkle of snow. Your craft room must be filled with all these goodies!
Can you be in love with a card? If so, I certainly am with BOTH of these!! So adorably CUTE!! I had to go to the PB site and look it up! I've bought all the new Halloween that will last me for years (yes really, sigh) so next month I'll be looking into new Christmas and this set might just have to jump in my cart, I think it is the cutest thing I've seen this year, well done my friend!! Oh and thanks for joining our challenge at Peace On Earth!!
OMG two adorable cards, those polar bears made my heart melt ❤️
I did something wrong, so my comment didn't "stick." What I said was that die is absolutely beautiful! I didn't understand how it worked on your previous card, but I see now. And the colors/shades you've used are wonderful. As always, the details on your card are out of this world.
