Double D Challenge: Hearts

Hello, friends!  Double D is at it again.  A new challenge starts today and this time Diane is asking for hearts.  Little hearts, big hearts -- 'tis the month for hearts.  See the pretty inspiration board...

... and a prize for a random winner:

I'm still working my way through not-yet-used supplies, and that will go on for a long time.   You'd think I was a craft survivalist with the way I've stockpiled.  Today it's the cute little envelope with flowers from the Stampendous Mailbox Spring stamp set.  The large kraft heart was a spare part.  I embossed it with an old folder and tapped all over with a freshly reinked white pigment pad.

The glossy dots are punched cardstock circles with Diamond Glaze added.  The die cut sentiment  is two layers. I used the packing tape trick on the top layer -- applied clear packing tape to red cardstock, then die cut.  Instant glossy cardstock.  After I hand cut the stamped envelope and flowers I coated with Versamark and clear embossing powder.  Maybe sometime I'll try the packing tape on a hand cut image.

This little 4 3/4" card will be a Valentine for a friend.

My teamies have used their hearts in some clever and beautiful ways.  Come along and spread some love with us by sharing your hearts in our Double D Challenge.

Have a happy day!

Stamps:  Stampendous Mailbox Spring  Paper:  Neenah Classic Crest Super Smooth Solar White 110 lb, kraft, Cougar Vanilla, Stampin' Up Ridinghood Red and Groovy Guava, red glitter cardstock  Ink:  Memento Toffee Crunch, Stampin' Up White Pigment ink, Versamark  Coloring:  Copics  Dies:  Tutti Stitched Nesting Hearts, Impression Obsession For You  Other:  Cuttlebug Seeing Spots embossing folder, 1/8" & 1/4" circle punches, heart punch, JudiKins Diamond Glaze, clear packing tape, Scotch brand foam mounting tape

Another lovely card my friend! I love the techniques you used to add some shine here and there. I still have not tried the packing tage technique but I'm so impressed by it. Hope the rest of your week is wonderful!

What a darling card Leslie! I thought the polka dotted heart was printed paper. It looks amazing! The little flower stuffed envelope is just as sweet as can be too. I have to try to remember your packing tape trick. It really makes your sentiment shine! ;0)

Just look at the many details on your card. I see the red and kraft background which compliments that large embossed heart. I love that you used the white ink over top. Nice trick to make the sentiment shine. I must remember that. I love the feminine touch of the cute envelope.

Gorgeous. I don't usually do a lot of Valentine cards and don't have any sentiments for them anymore, but I did purchase Echo Park paper and other supplies to make some this year. I've been working on them without stamping.

Wow, Leslie! I have used "a" packing tape technique from aeons ago that used glitter, but had never thought of using it to gain dimension and texture for a die cut! Fantastic idea! Your little Valentine is darling in every way. All your cards are straight from your caring Leslie-Heart. The evidence is in the details and "fun-ness". Question (probably silly, too)... when you made the punched cardstock circles... do you punch cardstock, attach to your project, and THEN drop the Diamond Glaze atop? or do you premake them and store them in a container? Your dotted heart is so sweet. Thanks for inspiring me. I, too, have been using old stash (especially from my unfinished box) and attempting to employ newer techniques in finishing them. Sending happy thoughts your way, my friend! xx

Sweet card Leslie. Love your large polka-dot heart that sets the stage for your adorable envelope filled with flowers. So pretty!! What a cool way to add gloss to card stock. I have never tried using packing tape before. Always learn so much when I come by for a visit! :) xx

Oh my goodness is that just beautiful, your coloring of the flowers in that envelope is just lovely! I always love the look of kraft and white together, it makes a lovely backdrop to your flowers and the glossy look with your embossing really makes it pop. Love your sparkle heart on the envelope too, your friend will so love this!

This is so lovely and works really well with the kraft card. Love the white spots on the heart and that cute little envelope of flowers. I love the packing tape trick so much that I went and bought a special roll of wide clear tape for the purpose, but have only used it a few times so far. Typical! Thanks too for your recent visits to me and lovely comments xx

Spectacular Leslie! Once again, you've shared so much inspiration. The embossed die cut heart with the inked dots, your self made enamel dots and wow, the packaging tape technique! The sentiment looks amazing and I love the envelope full of flowers. So many beautiful details.

I love the white ink on the embossed kraft heart and that sweet, sweet little envelope filled with flowers! I need to try the packing tape technique because it looks fantastic and so much easier than applying glossy accents or heat embossing! A fantastic valentine, Leslie!
