Double D Challenge: The Great Outdoors

Presenting another Double D challenge.  This time it's anything to do with the outdoors.  Think canoeing, camping, traveling, gardening, fishing, and so on.

The characters on my card are experiencing the great outdoors safari style.  This Gerda Steiner Go Wild stamp set has been sitting in my never-been-used basket for over 3 years.  I was beginning to wonder if its time would ever come, but here it is.

Images are Copic colored, hand cut, and arranged on a card covered with designer paper.  A few dies help build the scene.  I sponged the edges of the card with brown ink.  Inside is the sentiment, "It's your birthday.  Go Wild!"  I was going to send this to a friend who went on a photo safari years ago, but her birthday is still a long way off.  In the meantime, a non-stamping friend grabbed it up and was loathe to let go so it has found a different home and that's okay, too.

In addition to creative winners, there's a darling prize for a random winner:

I enjoy the outdoors and all the fresh air and activity.  Nature has a way of putting human problems in perspective.  I hope you'll visit the Double D blog, see the awesome team samples, and have fun crafting along with us.  Take care!

Stamps:  Gerda Steiner Go Wild  Paper:  Neenah Classic Crest Super Smooth 110 lb white, scraps colored cardstock, Bo Bunny Zoology designer paper  Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Close to cocoa for sponging  Coloring:  Copics  Dies:  Spellbinders A2 Curved Borders One and Big Scalloped Ovals, Impression Obsession Grass and Grass Border

Leslie, you are so incredibly talented. Every little card you make melts my heart with peace and/or joy. This delightful card reminds me of you, Rich and the pups on one of your excursions prior to the pandemic. I'm glad those memories are with you (and yes, with me). The way the elephant's coloring balances all the pretty earthy tones is amazing, right down to the pink ears! Your layers are fabulous. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the designer paper, and you shading. UTTERLY delightful (I know I said that more than once). Wishing you happiness, hugs, de

My dear, you NEVER disappoint, and this card is no exception!!! The whole thing just makes me smile, but the thing that makes me smile the most is that elephant. He's just so goofy looking and fun. Your coloring, as always, is impeccable, as is your design. Those patterned papers are perfect....just perfect.

How cute and fun is this, I love the characters, all riding in the jeep. That pattern paper is so cool with it, gives the look of sand and dirt, like how the grass is tucked in, terrific coloring!

I love that you took us to Africa on Safari. This has just got to be the cutest group of animals. I'm not sure if the elephant is in the Jeep or if he's following behind but he is adorable as well as the giraffe. Of how you made the dye cuts scattered around the background to make this amazing card.
