Sweet and Simple Dry Embossed Bird

Hello and happy Friday to all.  I have a very simple card to share today, made specifically for the Can You Handle the Pressure challenge.  It's always anything goes with an embossing folder, but each challenge includes an optional twist as well.  This month it's birds.  Say no more!

I pulled out every embossing folder with birds.  Turns out there are a lot in my collection, but I settled on this one which hasn't been used in a while.

It's a sweetie.  I embossed on retired SU Core'dinations cardstock, then sanded to bring out the white core.  After embossing I decided to cut a curved edge, which slightly flattened the embossing, so I fit the embossed piece back into the folder and re-embossed.  Perked it right up.  This blue is retired Soft Sky (an old favorite) with a border of retired SU designer paper, also in Soft Sky.

Along with all the old timey retired stuff is a new(ish?) stamp set from Birch Press called Contempo Greetings.  Comes with dies for the various shapes.  Love this set because the dies can be used with other sentiments as well.  I stamped with Versamark onto a scrap of the same cardstock, then embossed with white.

It's all very subtle and restful, like a spa for your eyes.

Two challenges today:

Can You Handle the Pressure?  Requires the use of an embossing folder.  Optional twist - birds.
NBUS Challenge #39 -- Never before used schtuff.  Today it's my Birch Press sentiment set.

This was a rather fun week with the oldies.  I'm trying to decide which company's NBUS to focus on next.  Heaven knows I have plenty.  Thank you for your time!

Stamps:  Birch Press Contempo Greetings  Paper:  Retired SU Soft Sky Core'dinations, Neenah white 80 lb, retired SU designer paper  Ink:  Versamark  Other:  Sizzix Birds of a Feather embossing folder, Poppystamps Dotted Curve die, white embossing powder

WOW, gorgeous card and how clever to cut a curved edge and then to fit it back into the EB folder!! I love using this paper for EB folders and then able to sand them, it surely makes the image pop, and what a great folder this is too!! Thank you for sharing with us at Can You Handle The Pressure!

Simply lovely. I do like the softness of the whole card. Very relaxing. Beautiful embossing folder. I should use mine more than I do.

Leslie, I've never seen this shade of blue, it's so soft and different and just perfect for your little scene.
The little bird is adorable and the curved edge paired with that lovely DSP completes this card beautifully.
Stay healthy and safe, my friend.
XO
Maria.

Beautiful card! Love everything about your card, the softness of the soft sky (love this colour too, one of my favs)and just how you kept this CAS! Very pleasing to the eye. Funny thing.... yesterday I was going through all my embossing folders as I am purging and I came across this ef which I decided not to purge, so put it in my keep pile - so glad I did after seeing your card. Lovely inspiration Leslie! Have a wonderful weekend.

I love your oldies, Leslie! and this beautiful, calming, spa-like card with its sweet bird!
I don't think I've ever done this paper sanding - I must have come aboard the card making train too late! It's wonderful!

What a really soft and pretty look Leslie, and the sanding back gives wonderful definition to the delightful bird, leaves and berries, also the background paper goes beautifully. The added die cut pierced curve looks great and putting it back into the folder to re-emboss has worked well. Thank you for coming to join us again over at the NBUS Challenge. x
