A Frog in my Pocket

Hello and welcome!

I'm crafting with 100% older supplies today.  The mood board at the current Double D Challenge made me do it.  They're asking for something with pockets.  Coincidentally I was looking at this old pocket stamp recently and loving it anew.  Doesn't it look authentic?

I tucked in a little frog which I stamped and embossed, then colored with Tombow markers and a homemade blender pen.  Cut down the frog in such a way that he could hang over the edge.  I think you can make out how it's all put together, and supplies are listed in the recipe below my signature.

I embossed the white panel with a daisy folder, but not sure it was a good idea.  Something seems off.  You know the feeling?  I do love that little frog and pocket, though!  It's already on its way to a friend.

About that frog... it's one of the first stamp sets I ever bought -- a very long time ago -- way back when we had a craft store in a local mall with a small section for stamps and patterned papers.  I still love the stamps.  Pictured below is the index sheet that came with it.  Mind you, I did not color the following image; it came that way in the package:

Fun, isn't it?  Love the oldies!

Double D Challenge:  Something with Pockets

Additionally per Darlene's reminder (thanks Darlene!):

Sisterhood of Crafters -- Use an old neglected stamp.  My pocket stamp is 10+ years and the frog set is probably 20+ years.

Thank you for coming to visit.  Have a beautiful day!

Oh wow that stamp does look very real like it is cut from jeans. That is a cute stamp and I just love how you cut him out and have him hanging out the pocket like that, like the heart in his hands, very clever. Your embossed flowers go so well with your die cuts and I love the swirls behind him too, awesome coloring.

That frog! That is the cutest little amphibian ever! :-) I don't have any pocket stamps or dies, so I had to skip this challenge. Your denim one is special.

I love your frog in a pocket. The pocket stamp really looks like and old worn denim pocket, I am so glad you have used it again. Your frog is brilliant love his expression and the daisies he is surrounded by. I think your embossed daisy works very well, don't doubt yourself (but I do know how you fee). all in all a very pretty and fun card xx

You just took me back to the summer of 1976, wearing cut offs and riding my bike with a friend all day long during the summer days. Those were the best days when childhoods were more carefree.

Fabulous take on the challenge, and that stamp is awesome.

This is one fantastic frog, Leslie! What fun! And the pocket looks like you cut it off a worn pair of jeans! Great job, my friend, and I love that you're revisiting older stamps.

Catch a hopping frog and put him in your pocket! You've saved my partly cloudy day, Leslie!
OH he is definitely an oldie but goodie! I love everything about your card - even the embossed daisy! I spy with my little eye a favorite old Paper Smooches set, too!
A wonderful friend from far away Denmark sent me a very cute pocket die a while back... wish I could find a free moment to use it!

I definitely smiled when I saw your post! Your card is so cute with that adorable frog sticking his head out of the pocket. Sometimes the old stamps are the best. Coincidently, I'm working on a frog card for Jennifer for St. Patrick's Day. She loves them! Have a great weekend! Hope all is well!

Grrr!!!! I'm so late with these words!!!!
Leslie, this card is all kinds of beautiful, cute and clever, the pocket looks as if you cut it out of a pair of very old and worn jeans, and this little green critter looks so comfortable inside.
Love all the daisies and the swirls plus, the embossing folder is lovely too.
Awesome card, perfectly fitted for the challenges.
Stay healthy and safe.

We've been at this craft a long time, haven't we, Leslie? This adorable frog is happy he got to pop out of the pocket and be sent to make someone's day! I love the embossed daisy. The swirly dies are wonderful too!

So cute! I do like the daisy embossing in the background. I have an old SU set with a frog and a pocket I should use. Love your pocket - it looks SO real!

The cutest pocket ever!! What a handsome frog he is and so clever to put him a pocket, in real life and days gone past this is something my brother would do, he once put a snake in my Mom's washer, it was an old wringer washer and when she lifted the lid a snake peered out at her..hah, the good old days!! You have colored him beautifully and I had a hearty laugh as soon as I saw him, what a fabulous stamp set this is!!

I always love when you use your oldie but goodie stamps. More than likely I have something similar and love the inspiration. That pocket looks like a real Levi 501. Very springy too! ♥ Sue
