Sunflowers and Butterflies

Hi!  I stamped sunflowers on a rainy day.  We've been extra busy here for the last few months so it was nice to simply give myself a day off.  The Stampendous sunflowers on my card are one of my more recent purchases, which means they've been in the not-yet-used basket fewer months than most of the others.

I sat down one afternoon and stamped out multiple images from the set, all on watercolor paper with Versamark ink, and embossed with Ranger Princess Gold EP.  The next day I watercolored all of them with SU inks -- dropped reinker into the lid of the stamp pad and used it like a palette.  I didn't mix or layer colors.  Just kept it simple and fun.  I'd planned to set most of the pieces aside, but nope, I made them all into cards.  Hey, I was having a day off.  I'm sharing just one of the cards today.

The card measures 3 1/2" x 6".  Sentiment on this card is from another Stampendous set.

The name of this set is specifically Pop Sunflower Set.  "Pop" refers to a pop out die you can use with it, but I do not have the die.  I've linked to 1-2-3 Stitch where I love to shop for stamps and dies.  Good variety, good prices, low shipping rate in the US.  I don't know about international.  Super fun to search stamps by every which way imaginable.  Just sayin'... if you're a stampaholic...

A quick update on LuLu:

Her condition is much improved.  She's walking on her own, but with limitations on endurance and agility.  We do hold her back so as not to overdo it.  Outside is easy, but her affected leg (right hind) won't bear much weight and her foot turns and slips on our bare floors.  She goes down and can't get back up.  After trying a few different ideas we laid down carpet strips so she can walk all the way from the livingroom to the water bowl in the kitchen.  That made her so happy!  She sticks to her little runway and avoids the bare floors.  I ordered a set of dog grippy shoes and socks from Chewy and hoping that will enable us to lift the carpet.  When you love someone you'll do anything for them.

Since my sunflowers are NBUS I'll link up today at Darnell's NBUS Challenge.  It's fun to see what everyone's putting to use for the first time.

I'll wrap this up now.  You've all been so kind with your outpouring of concern and support for LuLu and I appreciate it more than I can express.  Hugs back to all of you!

Stamps:  Stampendous Pop Sunflower, Stampendous Bird Frame (sentiment)  Paper:  Fabriano Artistico Extra White 140 lb hot press watercolor, vanilla card base, green Swiss dot, scrap designer paper  Ink:  Versamark, Memento Tuxedo Black, various SU inks for watercolor  Other:  Ranger Princess Gold embossing powder, oval die (name unknown), Scotch brand foam mounting tape

Your card is lovely...I love sunflowers and this is so bright and cheerful. I'm so glad Lulu is much improved! I agree that we would do anything to help our fur babies along. Love that you put down runners for her. We had a pug we did that for because the hardwood was just too hard for her. Thinking of you guys!

First let me say that I am so happy that Lulu is doing better and that you have got a plan for her to be more mobile, it takes me back to my days of helping our golden Nick (Nichole) and I sure do miss her. Your sunflower card is gorgeous and colored beautifully, makes me wish I had brought some EB powder with me, I certainly have enough of it and I have an extra heat gun too, wish I had thought of that as I love the golden outline of the image! Can't wait to see the others. A rainy day here so hoping to get some stamping done, as usual you have inspired me! One of my favorite places to shop is scrapbookdotcom, very fast shipping, usually next day and they are always offering a freebie, when I can remember to add it lol!!

Leslie, I can't tell you how happy I am to hear of LuLu's improvement. Glad the rugs have offered some options & hopefully the grippy shoes and sox will help out too. When reading your post about how we do anything for those we love, I almost started humming that old song from Oliver (Petsmart uses in their commercials) "I'd do anything for you" .....
Thanks for the update.
Also, so enjoyed the cheery sunflowers. Such beautiful work, as always.
Hugs,

Gorgeous, I love the stained glass look that the gold embossing gives to it, for simple coloring that looks amazing. So glad you had time to just have fun :)
So good to hear the news about Lulu, I wanted to ask but thought I would wait until you were ready to post. I sure hope the socks and shoes work for her and she can walk anywhere she would like

Leslie, I love these cheerful Sunflowers, love the gold embossing edge and the bright colors you chose.
Love your DSP too, it's beautiful.
Now, I'm so very happy Luly is doing better, and what a great idea to put those strips of carpet so she can be more mobile, we do anything for our furry babies, they are part of our family, it's not even surprising you guys are doing all these things to make Luly more comfortable.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful card and Lulu's progress report.
Stay healthy and safe, my friend.

Beautifully watercolored sunflowers, Leslie. I am looking forward to more of your sunflower cards. Nice not adding a sentiment so you can use an appropriate sentiment when needed. So happy that Lulu continues to improve. All her exercise and love from her family and friends help...I am sure. The rugs are working well, but the non-slick shoes and socks sound like a great idea. Isn't it amazing what you can find online?!? TFS your beautiful card and sweet photo of sweet Lulu...she is even smiling:-) Love and Hugs...Nancy

Leslie, that is wonderful news about Lulu. Hope the puppy grippies work for her. Your card is beautiful. That particular shade of gold is wonderful for the embossing and watercoloring.

I was pretty gobsmacked by your sensational sunflower design, Leslie, but then I saw the even more sensational golden named Lulu and she wins! I'm so delighted that she is doing better and well done putting down rugs for her to feel more secure on. Crossing my fingers that she continues to improve. And I'm excited for you to have had a whole craft day! That stamp is amazing and your coloring of it is even more amazing! Thank you for sharing with everyone at NBUS! Hugs, Darnell

Such a gorgeous creation. I love the sunflowers and your coloring is amazing as always. I love that you are so comfortable with the different papers and mediums you use. The butterflies really add to the overall design. My butterflies are not doing as well as I had hoped. I had 30 that made a chrysalis, but so far only 5 have hatched. I'm not sure what is going on with the rest of them. My sister's little little dog, Bruse, also does not like to walk on the bare floor, so she also had runners down throughout the house so he can move freely about. Love to Wally and Lulu.

I love that shelf you made for the vase of sunflowers. The background really makes the vase pop. I know all about the carpet runners. Our lab could not walk on hard flooring either and we had runners throughout the house. The hardest part was picking them all up to clean the floors. You are right noting is too much for those we love.

As for your card, what a delightful card to see today. Just makes me smile, so cheery and beautifully coloured. So glad you had a day off and was able to play and create! Looking forward to seeing more! Have a wonderful day Leslie.

So glad you had a day off from your busyness, and could lose yourself in cardmaking. The gold embossing with the sunflowers is really perfect. And your coloring is ALWAYS top notch. The wood-look patterned paper is gorgeous, and rustic, and a good choice for these blossoms.

I like to shop at 1-2-3 Stitch, too. Good prices.

Poor LuLu. Been thinking about her often. She's such a sweetie, I hope she's feeling better soon.

Thanks so much for all the love you've left recently at my blog Leslie. You are busy, please don't feel you need to comment. I know you have a lot on your plate. xoxo

Oh my! I did not know about Lulu. I hope she feels better soon. I have been busy packing and moving and amidst all, my first grandbaby. Today I spent unpacking my craft supplies and getting things set up.

This is another awesome card, and I am off to check out others you have made while I have been missing in blogland!
