Hello, there! Just a reminder today that there's still time to play in this month's CAS Mix Up Challenge -- Stencil Heat Embossing -- hosted by Nancy.
I had fun with this challenge and did more heat embossing than I've done in a long time. The stencil here is smooshed with Versamark and then heat embossed with a custom mix of everything but the kitchen sink. It's a little gold, a little sandy/grainy looking. I made the embossed panel weeks ago and then tucked it in a drawer with my other background pieces.
Chevrons make me think of coffee and caffeine for some reason, so when it was card-making time I pulled out an old stamp and embossed with copper EP, then colored with Tombows and blender pen. Very simple. I added the copper cord after I looked at it for a day or two. The simplest thing made me feel much better about the card as I believe it anchored the image.
By the way, the textured white card base is from a hoarded stash. Would love to find more, or maybe an embossing folder that gives the leathery look. Any suggestions?
Do come play with us at CAS Mix Up with Stencil Heat Embossing. My teamies have got some pretty amazing cards to show you for ideas! Thanks for coming today. See you again soon!

Oh boy, usually I'm on the cow's tail end but I'm first to comment today! I'm trying to get my blogging done in case we lose power! What a great card and sentiment! I too love that chevron look. The heat embossing looks great! It's hard to see the texture on your CS but I know SU has new embossing folder out that may fit the bill. Have a great week!
So great to see your card today Leslie! Love your chevron embossing, you have a great colour combo of ep! Love your popup image of the coffee cup and such a great saying! That bit of copper cording finishes this off perfectly. I have a few pieces of that white cardstock as well, still hoarding it! We are in for a big snowstorm coming later this afternoon and overnight - not looking forward to that possible 5-10 inches of snow and frigid temperatures! Keep well....
Wonderful embossed background. I have a very similar stencil but have never thought to use it like that. Love that coffee cup too, so special xx
Fabulous card Leslie - Love the coffee cup stamp too - made for the background I think!
LOVE this! I haven't quite figured out how to emboss with a stencil...it tears up my little sponge daubers, but I am going to keep trying! This is amazing, it makes me want to go have some iced coffee right now!
Love your choice of stencils Leslie and the coloured embossing powders are perfect for your gorgeous coffee mug.
Fabulous embossing and what a great card design.
you should market that colour of EP it looks amazing with your cup of coffee :)
It's a good one, Leslie! The "chevron" stencil shapes work so well behind that pretty coffee drink.
Fabulous card, so pretty with the background and stamp...love this classy card. ♥
Gorgeous heat embossed stenciled background, Leslie. Your mix of EB powders look like sand:-) Love your elegant coffee cup and sentiment too. Yes, the gold cord simply pulls your layers together. So pleased you enjoy this challenge. I did too:-) Love and Hugs..Nancy
This is the prettiest coffee cup stamp I've seen, Leslie! So beautifully colored and the embossed chevrons and copper cord set it off beautifully! Awesome card, my friend!
Such a pretty card! I love the chevrons. You're right - the copper cord is the perfect touch. I've made a note to do this challenge. We'll see if I follow through. :)
Your card is pretty amazing and PRETTY too! Wow, I love the powder mix, I can picture you having fun with that! The chevrons work well behind the elegant lines of the coffee. YES! The cord is perfect. Just right!

Tim Holtz has a cracked leather paper but it is smaller pattern than that paper
