Daisy Vase

Thursday greetings, friends!  I know I'm not the only one who sometimes cuts a die and then ends up with a negative piece you simply cannot throw away.  Right?  So that's what happened here.  I cut a rectangular mat and the "thanks" word simultaneously from a piece of white cardstock and it created the beginnings of a card front.  Rather than slip it into the card parts drawer, I continued on.

I cut the word in white again so I could have those little parts to glue back into some of the letters.  Pulled a years old and well-loved Stampendous Daisy Vase from it's drawer and colored with Copic markers.  Before putting it all together on the kraft base I stenciled the frame with pale yellow polka dots.  I didn't totally love it until I added the die cut/Copic colored daisies in the corner.  They are snipped from a larger die.

The card appears to be a semi-slimline, and perhaps you could call it that.  Actually, I started with a pre-cut 5x7 card, but cut it down to 4 1/4 x 7 to fit the frame.  I'll mail it in the 5x7 kraft envelope that came with the card.  It works!

This is my first time use of the dot stencil, so I'll head over to the NBUS Challenge (never before used schtuff).

Thanks bunches for stopping by.  Wishing you a happy day!

Stamps:  Stampendous Daisy Vase  Paper:  Neenah Classic Crest Super Smooth Solar White, kraft  Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Barely Banana  Coloring:  Copics  Other:  SSS Medium Dots Stencil, Cottage Cutz Thanks Phrase, Die-namites Daisy Bunch, rectangle die (forgot which one)

Such a sunny card. I think my most favorite flower is a daisy and these little blooms would make anyone smile!

Gorgeous! For sure, lots of cards start that way. But, then by cutting it again to get the centers for the letters, you are still left with a part! I love daisies, and your vase with daisies is awesome. The vase is so pretty. The dotted background is perfect, too. All-around wonderful.

Beautiful card and love the vase of daisies-I used to keep the negative parts for stencils/never used them!

lovely. that's a good one. I had to go back and read more carefully. I don't normally align things so they work out so well. BIG GRIN. Have a great day

Dots on the background! They are perfect with this daisy design. And I like the idea of using that negative space from the die. This is another beautiful card, Leslie.

Isn't it fun to see how we start out making a card and then what it looks like when we're finished! This card turned out so great! Love everything about it especially the dot stencil and the daisies! Warms me up to think about spring flowers! Thanks!

Love your sweet daisy arrangement in your beautiful blue stamped and fussy cut vase, which I remember from our early years of stamping:-) Your vase us grounded wonderfully with your brown inks blending. Love your soft yellow (Barely Banana) stenciled polka dots, die cut thanks and gorgeous die cut daisies. All perfectly balanced in your mini slimline format. TFS my friend and bringing back fun memories. Love and Hugs...Nancy

Beautiful, I love the pretty daisy's and how you colored the vase they are in, your die cut daisies are so sweet and go perfectly with the stamp! I love the idea of cutting the die out of the background paper to show through the base cardstock!

Awesome card! Makes me wonder how many stamps I've discarded that you could have done something wonderful with. Wish I had some of your talent. You rock!

How on earth did you manage to get those dies to cut so perfectly on your white panel? If I did that i know it would be all wonky and I wouldn't be able to use it. using that stencil to create a soft background is such a good idea too, as it breaks up the white but doesn't detract from the image. Wonderful colouring again xx

Oh wow!, this is so beautiful. Who doesn't love daisies, they are such a 'happy' flower, the completed card makes me smile! The polka dot background is so perfect with your daisies as is the added die cut daisies. Great use of the negative piece of 'thanks'. Really like this size of card as well. I've been in a big slump lately, just no mojo at all, and every time I see your cards, they make me want to jump back into it. I think today is the day, as they extended the lockdown for a few more weeks, no where to go, might as well hunker down on a cold winter day and create! Here's hoping! Take care Leslie, and as always I love seeing your creations!

Sweet! There's nothing more cheerful than daisies, Leslie. LOVE the beautiful blue vase as a contrast. Great way to use your negatives to get a beautiful second card. I love those polkadots --- perfect, happy embellishments to go with the daisies. You've brightened my day! xx

I know EXACTLY what you mean, Leslie! I sometimes cannot bear to throw away the negative from a die cut, if it makes sense. I like how you used yours here, and colored those daisies. :-D
