A Day at the Seashore

All the beach challenges I've been seeing recently have cumulatively inspired me to finally sit down with some of the beach/ocean/nautical stamps and dies I've been collecting, but not using (ahem).  Today I have one new die and one very old stamp.  Here are the two cards I made Monday morning:

Taking a look at the card below... it features an I-don't-know-how-old wood block stamp, completely unmarked.  It's been in a drawer forever and I've possibly used it once or twice.  The rock doesn't stamp very well, but I filled in the blanks.  We'll call it shading.  I pulled out this oldie for the CAS Mix Up Watercolor Challenge:  Beach

The next card uses a watercolored Pelican die from Cottage Cutz along with a pre-made smooshed watercolor background.  Just having a little CAS fun with this one.  Since the Pelican is a first time use, I'm sharing this one at Darnell's NBUS Challenge ~ 17.

I didn't do a lot of decoration inside the cards, but each features this sentiment:

More info in recipes below my signature.

That's all from me today!  Take care and stay safe.  I hope none of you are suffering damage from the tropical storm Isaias.  The news doesn't look good.  Hugs to all.

Card #1 --  Stamps:  No name OR Coast wood block, Art Gone Wild Variety Pack 1 sentiment inside  Paper:  Fabriano Artistico Extra White 140 lb hot press watercolor, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80 and 110 lb white  Ink:  Palette Noir on front, Memento Tuxedo Black inside  Coloring:  Watercolor with Tombow markers  Other:  Kaiser Craft Anchors die

Card #2 -- Stamps:  Hero Arts Moments sentiment front, Art Gone Wild Variety Pack 2 sentiment inside  Paper:  Fabriano Artistico Extra White 140 lb hot press watercolor, Strathmore Mixed Media vellum surface for background, SU Creamy Caramel for sentiment  Ink:  DOX Salty Ocean, Versamark  Coloring:  Watercolor with inks and Tombow markers  Dies:  Cottage Cutz Pelican, Frantic Stamper Making Waves, Spellbinders Long Classic Rectangles  Other:  White embossing powder

I love both cards as I'm a huge fan of all you do. But my favorite is the one with the shoreline. It makes me want to sit a spell and enjoy the waves!

Wow!! What terrific watercolours! I love them (even though I'm sad I won't be seeing the beach this year). The sand effect is so clever and I love the anchor/wheel die. The water effect on your second card is so realistic. Have a good week!

Beautiful cards, what a great stamp the Oregon Coast one is, it makes for a fabulous card. Love the second one too and I think I have that seagull die, yet to use. Great background on it as well. Since I am gone for most of the summer I have been making backgrounds for whenever I get home. I do miss my 'stuff' to create with!!

Your cards are again fabulous. So cute, and great how you were able to capture the coast up there in Oregon. It must be nice to live close to the water. The seagull reminds me of home and the Jersey coast. I loved visiting there.

Fabulous scenes Leslie! Perfectly Summer-y and makes me realize even more there's not much left of this year! eek! It's been kinda cool here the last two days. Very unusual for August but I'll take it! lol

WOW! Both of these cards are AMAZING and gorgeous! LOVE that anchor on the first card ... beautiful CAS design and that anchor really does 'anchor' the scene! Well done! You really have an eye for detail! And that 2nd card ... OMG how adorable is that pelican ... he's sure watching those waters for fish! I can hear him now squawks 'Mine! Mine! Mine!' Beautifully crafted and love the inside sentiment! I will say it again . . . you creations are always SO INSPIRING!!

What great cards! Growing up in NJ we spent most of our summers at the Jersey shore. I really miss going there. Your stamps are really cool. I love the shoreline one. I still remember the first time I saw a pelican on my first visit to Florida. It was pretty rough here yesterday. We loss power for only a few hours which was good but my daughter had some water damage. Glad it is behind us!

Your Oregon coast is beautiful, Leslie! Rocks do have a lot of colors and striations so it looks very realistic! Love the white die cut anchor and chain! The pelican is so stately and I love how your put the waves in the background! Thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS Mix UP!

Great shells to accompany your photos, Leslie!! You make tremendous ocean scenes! It must be in your pores, because that Oregon Coast card is so well done using that ancient stamp. The sand watercoloring is spot on and I love the anchor die cut. And what a cutie pie seagull die! This design is wonderfully CASlicious with your perfect blue smooched tide and my favorite sediment!! Keep well and thank you for sharing with everyone at NBUS! Hugs, Darnell

Ohh!! Leslie, for me, there are very few places I enjoy more than the beach, Mexico has some of the most beautiful beaches anywhere in the world.
But I digress, I think your gorgeous and inviting cards just made me day-dream about being in one of those beaches, getting a bit of sun, just listening to the waves crashing on the sand.
Love the sky on the card with that adorable pelican, I MUST try the smooshed technique, it looks amazing.
And your Oregon Coast card makes me wish for a walk along the sand picking up shells or pretty rocks.
Thank you for sharing these beautiful cards and for the chance for me to dream.
Stay healthy and safe.
XO
Maria.

Wonderful cards (as always)! Was wondering if you could help me find the anchor die you used? I've looked several places and haven't had any luck. Thanks

Love, love these beach scenes, the one with the Oregon coastline is fabulous but the one with that adorable pelican is my favorite, the water you created is just amazing, looks so real with those highlights like when you are looking at the ocean when the sun is shining on it.
Beautifully done, my friend.
